$500 USD MSRP. who would use this? nobody is installing 20A / 120v circuits anywhere but kitchens and laundry rooms. sure, you could try to run a heavy duty extension cord, but the voltage drop would be significant enough to make that unfeasible. and heck...the cost of a 2400VA UPS isn't affordable for most, either!

edit - I guess we'll see homes that have all sorts of metal conduit running on the outside. THE BORG ARE HERE!!! ;)

I did almost run 20A circuit to my desk with the fx8000×pair of 6990s. It wasn't because of the PSU though. It was because the UPS. I was able to put the best 15A units into an overdrawn state from the tower under load. The 15A based units even the larger and more expensive units are not really designed to feed a continuous 1100W+ (measured at the plug)

I don't think its 120V at all, I believe it's range is 200-240V and no plans of it coming to North America currently.

If you're future proofing you house, I'd probably go with a 20A 240V outlet. Your PSU today should still be able to run on it and I think you gain some efficiency.

But if the RTX 5090 needs dual 12VHPWR connectors... it's going to be a costly upgrade :ROFLMAO:

I actually installed 2 x 20A outlets in my house. Not for a PSU, but because of the volume of hardware I had in singular locations and being a diehard putting everything on a UPS with decent runtime, I wanted something more than an Extended Run 1500VA could provide.
I live rural now, so power spikes and such are a real thing for me and longer than normal downtime from them.

But yes, most of us won't be doing that at all lol.

Can someone start a how-to guide to ripping down walls and running thicker gauge wires for 20A? If I had the money, I would just sub-panel the server room and my office and install removable wall panels.

Start a petition for Canada to switch to higher voltage for residential...then we don't have to change the gauge in our walls to support higher power devices...seems a reasonable request, right? :ROFLMAO: 🤔

you only cut out where the wire is run...replace the wire and then patch n repaint.

edit - run 30A wire when you do it, that way you're future future proofing! ;)

Depends on the house. In my case where I was living at the time the panel and the office were both on the top floor (up/down duplex). So for me it would have been run into attic, run through joists and back down into the office.

Where I'm now I put a "CeilingMax" ceiling near the panel so i have access to the running things through the floor joists with some patience and fishing.

It's just North America that runs on 120V right? Rest of the world is around 220V?
