It's just North America that runs on 120V right? Rest of the world is around 220V?
Most of the world is 220-240v. If wiki is accurate:

The reason Canada is 60 Hz is that 50 Hz is that the earths magnetic field is 50 Hz and causes havoc with the long runs in Canada . Your stove dryer and hot water tank are all 240 V 60 Hz . If you want you can use 240 V . You just have to put in . :)
