What do you guys use for general purpose servers? (ie. dev servers, running test code, web server/db)

I'm running freebsd 7.2 from 4 years ago, and it literally falls apart the second it got deprecated, it's slowly limping along for the past year or so because I haven't gotten around to reinstalling it.

I need to update to a server OS, but I can't be hassled to spend a couple hours to redo a whole server the moment a major push comes out.

Can't go wrong with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. This is my distro of choice. I'm starting to dabble into debian as well.

Debian is a great platform and has many branches including Ubuntu.

Yes, sorry. Not to cause confusion, debian is a platform (.deb) which Ubuntu falls under. There is also a Linux Distribution called Debian just like Ubuntu is a Linux distribution.
