Hi All,

I am looking for recommendations for a SFF building using 7800x3d and a 4080 FE. I'm running an IM-01 Pro (26L) and would like to go under 15L. I have a M-Atx board and Atx power supply, Those can be upgraded to Itx and Sfx respectively. Fractal Ridge and Terra look promising. A Danscase A4 and FormD T1 look good- but not available. I've even entertained the thought of a ThorZone Tetra. Any recommendations, tips, or experiences would help greatly.

Don't have one. Running that kind of CPU and wanting a small case would push me toward a Lan Li A3 with an AIO for the CPU. I'm not even sure if the low profile / pancake CPU cooler could keep up. The Fractal Ridge has a max height of 70mm and the beefy Thermalright SI-100 is 74.8mm without the fan. Going with AXP120-X67, it would still be too thick. If you look at Noctua NH-L9A AM5, it even warns you it can't keep up. NH-L12S has a warning saying it can cool without turbo headroom and it's perfect at 70mm. Since you are using a 4080FE, you won't be able to use any AIO in that case. Terra is even worst, 3 slot GPU means it runs at Max-GPU setting which only gives you 48mm tall CPU cooler. If you use AIO, it can only use a single 120mm AIO which doesn't even cool a R5 / i5 class CPU these days. I guess Meshroom S V2 could work, it say 14.9L but it can even fit an ATX case and chunky tower cooler.

The A3 got about the same interior volume as the IM-01 Pro so not sure if it's an upgrade in this situation. I would check out the Meshroom S V2 and see if it's really smaller and just swap parts to that case instead.

Thank you all for the quick replies. So, it seems air cooling, SFF, and 7800x3d aren't the greatest mix.....
Does a 9800x3d change the math greatly? Or undervolting the cpu and/or gpu? I've even started to look into Kyrosheets...

Can't comment on the undervolting approach as I never done it myself. IMO Kryosheets isn't going to do a whole lot because you are limited by the cooler size at the end of the day. It may be better at transferring heat between the CPU lid to the heatsink but the limited surface area of a small heatsink is probably going to be a problem. Found a video review of the Meshroom S V2, not very impressed with it because in 3 slot GPU mode, you are still stuck with a max air cooler height of 70mm so back to same issue I pointed out earlier.
