This is good progress. The controllers being on a new node will help push down thermals too. I've seen some interesting temps from high performance NVME Drives.

from the NAND or the controller because I'm pretty sure all the heat related throttling is caused by the controller. so annoying that there are no cooling solutions that address the controller, it's all heatsinks with / without fans that sit on the NAND. ARGH!!!

Most of it is controller related throttling, which is why I'm always a little more cautious on what drives I recommend people put in their High Performance Laptops because they rarely get proper cooling.

The full body Heatsinks should cover everything no? Or maybe its where they put it on the design.
