When the original Raven case from Silverstone was introduced, many people were on the fence about its oddball looks, massive size and what seemed like a gimmicky rotated motherboard position. Well, the looks of the original version may still be up for debate but the cooling benefits of its unique interior design have been widely accepted by the enthusiast community.
The RV01 was soon followed by the slightly more refined RV02 which retained the unique features of its forefather while toning down the love / hate it exterior design. Its smooth surfaces and somewhat generic looks may have ensured that the RV02 appealed to a much larger audience but there was still one issue: its massive size. Implementing a rotated motherboard design meant that precious space was taken up by PSU cable routing bottom-mounted fans and a myriad of other items that are usually taken for granted in standard issue cases. The result was the RV01 and RV02 far surpassing the size of many other ATX cases on the market.
The Silverstone engineers have since gone back to the drawing board and have reformulated their award winning Raven formula for a much smaller form factor and a price point of just $160. Called the RV03, this next generation in the Raven series may just be what many have been waiting for.
