Techspot / HUB summarized a round of up review and one of them said it's hot under stress test. Probably fine for regular gaming use?

Basically we are at the point where NVMe drives need heatsinks to reach any of the advertised numbers for anything outside of a small burst.

which is silly, because only 1% will every use an SSD like that to it's full extent. 99% of users just see FASTEST EVAR and buy it and most of those will be clueless that their use case won't even reach what PCIe 3.0 SSD can do, LoL!

edit - I recall reading something about a PCIe 5.0 controller that runs cooler than the rest, but getting unbearably hot is an issue with all PCIe 5.0 controllers.

How come this still carries the WD_BLACK branding though.... I thought everything was SanDisk now :ROFLMAO:
Had the same thought, if you look at the specs, the chips are BICS 8 from SanDisk, which is the same type in the article I posted about SanDisk planning 128TB for enterprise this year.

First thing I noticed as well. Going to assume this was in the works before the decision to split, but could also be them working 'transitioning' labels so the public keeps associating them with WD black NVMe drives.

Funny either way.

that's my thought as well...Black being a gaming-centric premium product, WD may want to keep the brand connected to their name.

So, clearly branded with Sandisk as the parent company in their promotional material, but maybe they're considering the WD_Black as the model?
