A new Launcher has dropped . There is a PTU up also 3.24
:)
Yes, that PTU is open to all backers finally. Not sure if I am going to try it though. MIght just wait for 3.24 to go live to the PU.

Also 4.0 is scheduled now for release in Q4 2024. That will bring Pyro, the next star system, and all that comes with that.

Alpha 3.24 is now Live on the PU. It certainly isn't bug free based on the patch notes, but it did move to Live after a long stay in PTU so good to see. And we also need this one stable to get moving on 4.0 release.

The launch video for it is... a very odd choice IMO.

This release has core changes and additions adding actual personal hangers, large scale physical cargo handling, and tonnes of other things. So fine to focus on cargo as that is a big improvement. But the video seems to focus on a character carrying a single box and we have been able to do for years. I get their point, but only because I've followed development for ages and understand all the features added in this update. If you were a new person who didn't know, and you looked at that video to see if 3.24 was the update you should check out, I'm not sure it would be enticing.

I'm curious as always to see what happens at CitCon this year. The schedule with redacted stuff, people seem to believe is SQN42 info. It's be nice to get a release date for that.

Yes saw that. At least that’s a real target! I’ve yet to watch any of the actual videos but I’m hearing positive things about the coverage.

I was just updating to 3.24.2 and the PU is currently being worked on also.

I finally worked my way through the CitizenCon full day streams, day 1 and 2, and although I tried to be the grumpy old man they impressed me again. I wouldn't have spent my money on a near 1:1 Anvil Hornet model for the show floor, that seemed a bit extravagant lol but I was impressed with all the content shown this year. Great stuff.

I actually felt the SQN42 live prologue gameplay was both impressive and concerning. That certainly needs to be a great game by the time it launches. It is epic based on what was shown.

But I was the most pleased with what they have mapped out for what Star Citizen 1.0 will be. It is really well thought out and has a very good chance of bringing all the gaming, professions, activities, etc. in the PU now into a cohesive PvE/PvP experience with massive endgame content. Looking great!

With 4.0 now with Evocati testing and scheduled for delivery by end of the year, that includes Pyro and server meshing, they'll have delivered on I think all but a few small things that they promised for 2024 at CitizenCon last year, so good for them, and good for us the players clearly!

So I remember thinking how much the idea of Star Citizen appealed to me in the beginning. Then the time creep happened and well even knowing it was playable in a form and has some cool mechanics it still felt like something that is a never finished product.

Now after looking at some of the recent stuff and watching that entire hour and a bit of Squadron 42, I have to say I am impressed. And while I saw that 2026 at the end and that feels like forever from now, if they can pull it off to have that kind of feel that the first hour did, they will have a hit. I have been getting annoyed with games not living up to things, but this really does look like what I want in a space game. We will see of course but still, mighty impressive at this point. All they have to do is stop adding things and just iron it out and finish it.

And yes I am so wanting to grab a bundle for the Star Citizen side of it too, I mean all I want to do is fly around from planet to planet, but it is steep entry price for just that. And those ship prices, damn it is no wonder they have gotten over 700 million so far. So yea count me in for just overall being impressed and really look forward to what gets released some day.
