the whole game? that big / heavy a reset?
Having to download the whole game again isn't a requirement. It's just an update as normal. But sometimes people choose to reinstall fresh if they are having issues. I just updated my game as with other updates.

4.0.1 is now on the LIVE channel as @ZZLEE said, but this is the set of fixes that have been playable on the HOTFIX channel. Persistence (inventory and in-game purchased, reputation, completed missions, achievements, etc.) has been the same for both LIVE and HOTFIX with the way they have been working on 4.0.1. So anything you did in either channel was available in both.

Granted it's a bit of a confusing approach for new players, but the benefit has been getting more people using the fixes but still accomplishing something in game rather than just testing as was the case with the normal Public Test Universe (PTU) eventually to LIVE approach. In those cases anything you did in PTU didn't persist or get carried over. They'll still use PTU I'm sure for very early testing, but my guess is the HOTFIX option will continue as a way to get improvements to players faster, one of their primary goals for 2025.

We are still having issues in 4.0.1 with hanger and regular elevators, which is both comical and frustrating :) but I've had a couple good play sessions with 4.0.1.

Wow. I had a several good hours in game last night. Finally put on my big-boy pants and made the jump to Pyro so I could try some missions in the Fight For Pyro events. The game worked very well, with the only issue being a bit of lag moving things in and out of my inventory on occasion. I had no hanger issues, no elevator issues, no disappearing cargo issues... refreshing! lol

First time going through the jump gate or worm hole or whatever we're calling it, and man it was impressive! I'd seen it in videos but that didn't do it justice compared to seeing it live myself and actually flying through it. They did a tremendous job on that.

It was an excellent play experience and although the Stanton system is already impressive, Pyro takes it to another level. I ended up the night getting killed by a player at a lawless outpost as I was desperately trying to get my cargo submitted. Needless to say, next time I'll shoot first and ask questions later! :)

This was playing on PU LIVE in the current 4.0.1 patch. 4.0.2 is already in PTU being tested.

4.0.2 is now available on the Persistent Universe (PU) LIVE.

Fixes a tonne of the quality of life issues (not all yet, dare to dream, but much improved over 4.0.1), and started the "Supply or Die" phase of the Save Stanton event. Fun contracts (missions) for both the industrial (cargo running/supplying, mining, salvage) and combat (PvE and PvP) styles of gameplay.

I'll list this here too for reference. It's also in the "What game are you currently playing..." thread.

Participated in an Org event Saturday night to complete the three phase of the current "Supply or Die" event in the overall phase 3 of "Save Stanton" and earn the in game rewards. Sixteen of us working together in three separate teams:

1. A combat team "soft killing" high level bounty targets (NPC contracts) so we could salvage the ships and harvest the required cargo;
2. A salvage team for salvaging the materials off the "soft killed" ships, I was on this team; and
3. A cargo team running the harvested cargo and salvage materials back to the required stations to turn in and complete the contracts and earn the points for the event.

Played for over 3.5 hours, and everything worked very well. We were able to complete the contracts enough times that all our player completed the event.

We had a few smaller issues where one guy seemed unable to accept the shared contracts when they were sent out by the team leaders, and he also had issues seeing player markers even though he was in the party. But he was the outlier. We supplied him the require materials and cargo afterwards so he could complete the event.

Great time, lot of laughs, and great to see the game coming into all the parts we've wanted for a long time, not to mention being stable and not wigging out at the most inconvenient moments! 2025 for gameplay and stability is off to a good start.
