This deserves to be re-quoted indefinitely. This might be *THE* key issue in society today, if you consider all the 'spin-off' problems' that come out of it.
Yeah, really, people who want to raise a stink about pornographic video game are just wanting to avoid responsibility of parenting. Also, this is a very old story, 2018, so not sure why clshades nekro'd this threat just to talk about keyboard sales. I don't have kids, so I'm not familiar with what steam provides parents for control as it was very surprising for me the other month when I clicked on some random "promoted" games on the steam store and saw full nudity front and center as soon as I clicked it. Not a big deal, but just surprised as in the past you always had to confirm before being sent to a "mature page."

As a parent to 5 kids, 3 are now adults, you can parent as much as you like, strict or not strict, helicopter parent or raise free range kids, it doesn't matter, kids are inherently curious and mischievous. Not only that, but parents have what, a few hours in the evening and on weekends with them? While the kids at school tell them about all of their adventures and escapades? Come on man. Parental controls are a useful feature/tool to help limit their access to these things and not an indication of a lazy or poor parent trying to avoid repsonsibility.

I don't think you correctly read my post. The comment I had about parental controls was to say "I don't know what parental controls steam offers," nothing more, nothing less.

Maybe I jumped ahead a bit to parental controls, but certainly saying people who don’t want pornography easily accessible and on the front page of steam or similar, are avoiding parental responsibility is kind of short-sighted.

Well, that's putting a lot of extra words in my mouth still. Yes, I was surprised that on my steam account it didn't give me the usual "confirm your age" screen, before showing a pornographic game, but my point is that it is up to parents to be aware of what their kids are doing, especially online. It shouldn't be that the entire internet gets censored just to remove the possibility of a child seeing adult content. There are game rating systems for a reason and if steam doesn't provide parental controls, then either we should be asking steam for these tools and not allowing unsupervised access to steam (and that can be expanded to the internet in general).

My buddy had Leisure Suit Larry eons ago, I never really got into it.. Crazy days fellas. I myself was never into the animated stuff, but I know a couple who are.. not my thing. I wont judge.. the internet has traumatized me enough that nothing would really surprise me lol.

You have to authorize the adult only games on steam for them to show. Although there are some that aren't technically AO, that still have some nudity.
