Haha I doubt we'll ever have this tax, there's not enough LAN parties in Canada for the governement to gain money. There's like 1 in every major city but then there's nothing else after that.

Yeah, I wasn't referring to LAN parties so much as the attitude towards taxing people to ridiculous levels simply because the government, when it gets so powerful and arrogant they think they can do what they want.

Not unlike the cops B&Eing homes with what looks like the express purpose of stealing peoples property under the guise of "safety".

At least Sweden's high taxes benefits the populace unlike most other countries.

Minimum paid 5 weeks vacation per year and paid sick leave
Up to 480 days paid parental leave
Up to 120 days paid to care for sick children
Free education including university (plus students also get a stipend during university)
Pension after retirement
Universal health care
Day care is heavily subsidized so costs parents about $120/month
One of the most comprehensive public transportation systems in the world
Consistently ranks amongst the highest quality of life of any country.

Yeah, who would want that.

Gotta pay for that stuff somehow; nothing is ever free.

That was my point, they have high taxes and that's what they get in return. I never said it was free.

Can't see this being enforceable as people bring their own machine and it's not provided by the event. Therefore the event is public but the computers are private.

It does give them the option of shutting them down very easily with hefty charges for an audit.. But other than that.. meh..

Besides if it weren't for prizes etc whats the point of Lan parties... the net is fast enough now that they aren't needed.. as a meet? well just meet.. lol

The Government has a license to steal. What gives them the right to take money from computer users who choose to play games with each other?
