The Happy thread!

Upgraded to Win 11 this week. Lots of stuff I don't like. But being able to use an Android phone as a webcam is pretty damn slick. I was going to buy a USB capture card so I could use my Sony mirrorless (which hadn't been turned on in years). But the quality using Android phone was really good. Just need to figure out how to mount it above my tv somehow.

These give a flat surface above a monitor/tv then you can place pretty much any generic phone mount on top of it. Or there are VESA shelfs and stuff for a little more effort to mount, but more solid results. Second one even shows an example of a phone hard mounted in place.

'Worked' this weekend. But I did nothing all week end. Got paid to work on the car stereo and clean the house. Days were I have zero work are rare. 2 days in a row? I think that may be unheard of.

Only did about 3 hours on Friday too.

By some miracle I've found one glass door that should fit my surround.

Now I know adding a glass door to a surround isn't 'best practice, but the previous door was glass and the surround held it, so I'm hoping with a few extra anchors in the frame there's a chance it'll work. Best case my shower repair goes from about $3000-4000 (walls, sealant, pan, tile, grout, showerhead, door, etc) to just a door.

Edit: Thought Rona had it, but it was one size bigger. Trying to find if anyone has it in stock in the area :S

Went back to Win 10 on Saturday. Man it is so good. And somehow the one issue that has plagued me for 5 years has just stopped and I have no idea how. Some displays (and especially TVs) show disconnected when they turn off, causing windows to resize and move as it thinks the display is 1024x768. EVERY time I would come back to my PC this would happen. But it hasn't happened since Saturday. Not having to spend 30 seconds resizing and moving every window many times a day is really nice.

The glass door I replaced downstairs I'm pretty sure was Lowes (Rona+ now I guess). The install was pretty simple actually maybe an hour or two by myself from the clean state. Removal and cleanup of all the old door and it's silicone actually took 2-3x longer. Made liberal use of a spray/cleaner that eats silicone to ease the cleanup.

We're officially a fully outfitted wifi 7 household. Just "adopted" my second U7 Pro and it seems to be playing well in the sandbox with my first.

Just waiting for my Ebay ordered Enterprise 8 PoE to arrive from out west in order to complete my current Ubiquiti/Unifi networking setup. For some reason the seller shipped via regular CP so there's no tracking. :(

I spoke too soon!!!!!! The switch arrived a couple of minutes after posting this.... :)

Appears to be a legit unopened product, not positive why the seller was asking so little for it, but judging by the other sales it might have been a cancelled business project. It was shipped expresspost so it was just a matter of the seller not updating tracking.

It was presumably sold on behalf of a business (as opposed to a private individual) as I was charged tax.

edit: I got a BNIB $650 PoE switch for $450 + tax, so I "saved" $230 over retail.

As from my post in the latest pruchases thread, I picked up some free audio gear from FB. Tested out everything and it all works. AVR is pretty damn decent. She could have probably easily sold it for $200 if she was patient. I'll definitely be using it. Then sell off my old Denon for $50 or something. Sounds good but it's old. So old I need to hook up a composite USB capture card to change any settings. As it only has a svideo / rca video out.

Speakers are Soundstage so not exactly high end. But they aren't bad. Only 5.25 drivers from the looks of it. So lacking bass pretty badly. But with a sub they'd make decent speakers for home theatre. I'll shouldn't have much issue getting $100 for them.

Offered the speakers and old AVR to sister for free. But she'd rather keep her tiny sound bar.

Definitely a huge win. Audio upgrade and should be able to get paid doing it. :p
