That's an amazing find, I have some sound stage stuff and yeah a sub is neccessary with their stuff since all the speakers are on the smaller size with most of their towers.

Because of the wave of sound bars finding recievers anymore seems difficult in general. House guest tripped the one I had in the basement into protect mode with a guitar. Never did find a replacement.

The glass door I replaced downstairs I'm pretty sure was Lowes (Rona+ now I guess). The install was pretty simple actually maybe an hour or two by myself from the clean state. Removal and cleanup of all the old door and it's silicone actually took 2-3x longer. Made liberal use of a spray/cleaner that eats silicone to ease the cleanup.
Using a knife to do a quick cut of the silicone and a silicone scraper worked pretty well for me to get the bulk of it off. I found a bit of goo gone was really good to make the remainder easy to remove. Took a few applications, but it worked pretty well.

Got my post retrofit assessment for the greener homes loan. Between solar, Furnace and AC, and adding attic insulation my rating went from 179GJ/yr to 85GJ/yr.

Will eventually do some air sealing on my own (new weatherstripping, outlet sealing), but I'm almost at the point where it's only windows and walls that can be improved. Can't do anything about the walls, and windows would be brutally expensive for my place. Pretty happy with the reduction (will be happier when I get the rebate back though)

Exterior insulation on the walls under the siding was one of the proposals I had.

you re-side after deploying external insulating?
Yes which makes it expensive if your not already in need of new siding. But it is one of the approaches. Can't reuse old siding because it won't fit, lengths will be inches short on each end.

I had never heard of that before. Imagine it's pretty expensive, you'd need the insulation, all new siding, all new trim around doors and windows, likely new soffit to account for the dimensional change too.

It's unusual to see exterior insulation on residential but quite common in commercial construction. While a retrofit would be expensive, it would be cheaper than adding insulation depth on the inside. Most older homes are 2x4 construction which would give you a maximum of R14 insulation. New construction in BC is mandated to have 2x6 exterior walls with minimum R20 now. One positive of insulation external to the sheathing is that it moves the dew point outside of the wall cavity, reducing the chance of water vapour condensing and causing rot.

One of my neighbour's did actually do it and it was expensive (don't remember what he said he paid). But it not only helped temperatures but also with noise a bit. They also don't use standard hard foam they use stuff more similar to the black hard foam insulation that is quite expensive per sheet since it has a slightly higher R rating. All seams are taped etc. If your going to reside a house it is atleast worth looking into but the cost I wouldn't do it just for the little bit of r value alone.

Rant with a positive note..... ;)

Amazon Music windows app just for whatever reason decided to stop playing music on my mini-pc which is its primary function so that's not optimal. It launches fine, loads up my profile, and allows me to select content, but the play button does absolutely nothing. :(

I've tried restarting, and reinstalling the app with no luck, and then thought perhaps it was something to do with the Ubiquiti ad blocking, but it's working fine on other PCs.

Finally decided to say bugger it and re-install windows. Here's where the positive comes into play..... trigkey doesn't offer a driver pack for this model, instead they've got a factory image which includes a fresh install with all of the proprietary drivers all ready baked in.

Maybe I'm the odd man out, but I love having a full factory install rather than depending on generic drivers from windows update.
