Previously these lines (pex water and the copper gas for the fireplace) were sandwiched between the Cold air return above and a large duct below. With my HVAC guys zoning the house that duct is gone temporarily.

Might seem an odd post for the happy thread, but I'm going to stay home until the HVAC crew gets here tomorrow. If the duct is going back to the same place, I'll see if they're okay with me being in the way briefly and cutting all those water lines so I can re-route them (which I was going to do at some point anyway, but had been putting it off due to the annoyance of the ducts in the way). The copper line has a threaded union in it, so I'll shut off the valve feeding it and then disconnect there to get the line out of the way.

It'd be so much easier to move them while the ducting's gone and might make their lives a little easier. Fingers crossed it's a good option for both them and me.

Would have to shut off the water, open up the taps in the house and still have a bucket for the draining, but I've got a Milwaukee pex tool already, would only need another hundred feet or so of Pex A 1/2" and another dozen unions and 90s....

Copper line for the gas fireplace might be a little short if re-routed, but it can wait to get reconnected if it is and maybe it'll motivate me to challenge my gasfitter ticket.

April 11th 2024 was my last eletric bill where I owed money.

The solar panels went up late enough in the season I wasn't able to generate enough credit before winter kicked in.

I just got the April 2025 invoice today and I have a ($200) balance still and the panels are starting to generate enough again to counter usage. That $200 credit is after admin fees not just usage fees. Now it is still a net loss due to loan payments etc but a step in the right direction.

Loan could have been cheaper if I didn't also need a new panel and some other stuff that was done at the same time.

My wife's on a girl's trip with our daughter today and tonight, so I'm home alone with our dogs. I get a full day with the house to myself - a day full of war movies and KCD2 with no interruptions!. Hasn't happened in forever!! There's always somebody home.

Bought some cheap used bookshelves to help organize things as I go through the stuff that has been accumulating. However kinda wanted and extra set of shelves. So bought some melamine shelving from hardware store and actually had my not quite 12yo do a lot of the work. Hard her taking measurements, marking things out. I cut the first shelf to length on the sliding miter saw, had her do the second. They were a little deep so I ran a circular saw to make them a little shallower (wasn't quite ready to hand her a free range circular saw). Had her help make the divots for the shelf pins with a rotary tool. In general just had her do a bunch of it. Was really impressed how well she tool to the stuff I handed her and how well she followed directions.

At that age I don't think I would have been comfortable handling a lot of what she did today.

Finally got the toilet flange in the basement cut down to the right height, toilet is remounted and no longer wobbles. That was the last chore on the list before putting our house up for sale. Which will happen after we get back from a week getaway in Cabo San Lucas.
