The Happy thread!

Finally got around to installing/configuring Fan Control to replace the ASUS armoury crate piece of offal which refused to keep my settings (mainly wanting GPU temp as the sensor to trigger for my case fans). Seems to be working as advertised, although I'm not sure it can do the zero fan settings on the GPU, and not completely sure on how to disable the gpu fan in the app to let it operate at default settings.

I've used it, and stopped using it, and installed it again, and took it off again...

It's good, and I like it, but I've never taken the time to deep dive into it to understand how it all works. My fault, not the programs. I end up setting what I want in the BIOS for fans, using Armoury Crate for setting and forgetting the one piece of RGB left in my system on the motherboard, and then leaving it alone.

Excited! Making our now annual trek to Sask starting this Sat for two weeks to work cattle and help with calving season at a friend's ranch 🤠 I'll be a bit scarce on here in that period.

Hoping to finalize that build for my niece so she can purchase the parts while I'm gone. Thanks again for all the input in that thread!

My issue is that I need to be able to tie my top/bottom case fans to GPU temps rather than defaulting to CPU otherwise my GPU gets starved for fresh air when it's working hard but the CPU only has a moderate load on it. (most gaming)

Yeah, I haven't done that. I think all my fans are tied to CPU temps, but that still does keep my GPU relatively cool even gaming so I must be moving a good amount of air now in this new fan setup.

Yeah, it's mostly my own fault for wanting to keep idle fan speeds as low as possible. If I had a more moderate fan curve at default I'm sure there'd be more than enough fresh air for the GPU. I could conceivably set them to a fixed rpm somewhere around 1K and be fine.

My system might finally be stable. Messaged Asus support over the weekend, but it had to be elevated as the rep on chat didn't know what to do (no shock).

In the meantime after coming across a random reddit post mentioning stability increases with Ryzen master instead of Bios handling Expo I decided to give that a try. IIRC I had Ryzen Master in the past before the issues started, but had uninstalled it due to a persistent 'update' error with the software at the time (causing a CMD screen to pop up).

Enabled Expo in RM instead of BIOS and.... it seems to be working, played far more COE33 that I should have last night and never had a single crash.

Time will tell, but it's more luck than I've had manually adjusting things.

Welp, spoke too soon. Still crashes during gaming to black screen. Sigh.

Going to try disabling PBO and make one last attempt this weekend, if not I'll either have to wait to see what ASUS says or try to get some different RAM.

Gotta love $17 plumbing repair on a toilet. :)

I do find the universal flowmaster fill valve sounds a bit louder than the one that was in there in spite of looking identical to the one I swapped out.
