So this finally dropped on Steam today. I've been waiting for it for about ten years.

$70, though. Does it kinda feel like PC gamers are getting ripped off? It's essentially a ten year old game - you can find The Last of Us remastered on PS4 for $9.99 currently, so $70 on Steam kinda stings.

I've waited this long, I think I'll wait until it drops down to the $30-$40 price point.

It's a shame people who never played it might only consider it now after seeing the tv show because playing it for the first time without any back story was a gaming moment that will live with me forever.

I'm purposefully waiting to watch the TV show until I've played the game. I really do want to go into it blind.

I'm also seeing some reviews on Steam indicating the port is quite buggy. Hopefully they fix this in the coming months, and by the time I'm ready to buy in the fall, they've got it all sorted out.

This is exactly what I was thinking, just seems pricey. I get it is remastered and such, but like you mentioned $10 for remastered on PS4, so I'll wait.

I haven't watched it either, although I did watch some playthrough stuff just after it came out originally. So I do know bits of the story but would like to play it before I watch it.

Update:

Just looked at some of the reviews and wow, it is terrible. I mean we all know the game is good, but it looks like most can't play it. It either crashes constantly or likes to take hours to build shaders.

These are just some of the reviews;

The single worst PC port I have ever seen. Waited 10 years for the game, avoiding any and all walkthrough videos, reviews, spoilers and etc. and this disgusting excuse of a port ruined every single ounce of excitement I had for the game. Building shaders for almost 2 hours now, crashes in main menu while building shaders every 5 or so minutes.

Crash Simulator

crash counter: 12

crash to desktop with error: 3
freez and killing the task: 3
freez together with steam: 5
crash and pc freez: 1

after loading Building-Shaders, no crashes anymore...
now it is a...

Loading Screen Simulator

please wait, please wait, please wait...

As strictly a PC gamer, I've been waiting on this game for so long. I trying to stream this today and I had so many issues I ended stream thinking it was my PC - nope. It was the game. Turned ALL the settings to the lowest possible, disregarding I have a damn good 1 year old PC with a 3080TI that can run anything else no issues.. Still using 100% of my CPU and UGH I've got 1.8 hours of "playtime" yet I literally played 5 minutes of it. The shaders STILL haven't finished building. Gonna uninstall & start fresh, but at this rate, I'm already past the "playtime" for asking for a refund.

TLDR: I do not recommend buying it in it's current state.

weirdly early april fools prank

don't buy until an optimisation update is pushed

How much would it cost you to get a ps4 to play it for $9.99?

That's soooo not the point.

It's an old game. IMO shouldn't be priced like a modern AAA title. I've waited this long already to play it, I'll wait a little longer until it comes down to a more reasonable price.

Especially with the crappy console port reviews. Holy smokes.

It's a complete remaster based on an old game. That was never on the pc to begin with so, imho, your argument is irrelevant. People begged and begged for this to pbe put on pc. Someone needs to be paid for their time and effort to make that happen.

As for the fact that its a terrible port, well so many games are terrible out of the gate these days that it doesnt surprise me at all.
