Wow 150kph on the Coq and didn't get her license pulled? Isn't that section of BC highway filled with cops?

I don't think we will see hyper sonic commercial flights without major technical breakthru. The cost per ton is going to be a problem. There's a reason why 747 got popular but later got sideline by 777 and 787.

yeh, hypersonic commerical is a ways away and even though several companies are working on commercial supersonic aircraft, it's still gonna be so niche and expensive it'll be for the rich only. hypersonic has serious business promise though in moving critical freight, etc, in mere moments vs days.

If this thing works out, it doesn't seem likely it will be scaled to much beyond small private jet size ( in terms of passengers.) It's one hundred feet long for one test pilot. They have amazed us before though.

Late to the discussion, fuel consumption and ticket cost where big factors, but if I remember right there were additional logistical problems with supersonic commercial flights; a number of countries banned it on their flight routes to avoid the noise of breaking the sound barrier. Even on approved routes you had to be so far out of the urban area before going supersonic and obviously had to slow down out of supersonic so far out. Maintenance was exceptionally more and more specialized than with conventional commercial craft.

I might be wrong on a few of those though, I'm going off vaguely remembered points from an article about why supersonic flight hasn't returned I read a few years ago.

Bombardier just announced the Global 8000 as the 'fastest' private jet available. it has a range of up to 8000 miles and can attain speeds of up to 717mph, which is about 90% of the 767mph needed to go super sonic. interestingly, the air frame the G 8000 is built on broke supersonic speeds during testing. no word on price, but being as big as it is, no doubt absolutely ridonculous!

That’s the program I’ve been working on for the past year (and before that, I was working on the 7500). Sell price is USD$79M.
