Thanks!
Watched Eternals last night I think that they should have put it as a mini-series because there seemed to be too much-missing information it to me is like they did 4+ hours of filming then realized that they needed to edit some but by doing so they cut out parts of the story which to me might have made this a good story. I did like the general idea of it even though it was small I liked Thena ( Angelinas part)
I wonder if they went the movie route instead of a show due to the the flop that was the Inhumans show? From what I remember it was a disaster critically and viewership wise and maybe they hoped a film and fairly well known cast would help.
Just watched The Eternals here. Wife and daughter really didn't like it (daughter is a big current MCU fan). I didn't hate it but don't think it ranks very highly on my list either.
Last night we watched The Book of Boba Fett chapter 3. Still not liking it. I'm trying, but it isn't doing it for me.
shows like the new star wars I like to wait for a while then grab all the eps watch them in a row because sometimes the story takes a while to find its footing, this is what happened with the Eternals they rushed it they should have made it into a mini-series . the expanse to me isn't really that good but it holds my attention... just. if that would have been a movie I would have been more disappointed
yeah, I do hope something new comes out sooner than later.
It was odd they spent so much time at the start of each episode bringoing the Strange Dogs novella to screen and introducing/Duarte. Especially in a episode constrained season. Maybe a spin-off is already in the works we don’t know of
Haven't made it to the last episode yet. I was a bit concerned when I realised there are only six episodes in this, the final season. Seems a lot to finish up in one episode! But I've been pleased with the season so far.
For us this weekend, we were at home because of stormy weather so got two movies in:
1. The Eternals - it had its moments that I liked, but for the most part it was a no for me and my family. My daughter is a big fan of the current MCU so she was downright angry if this movie was what is to come for Marvel movies. She's 12, so bear that review in mind, but she had a pretty good 15 min rant with some decent point
2. Dune - This we all thought was great! I did read the first book in prep for this movie release, but never got to see it in the theatre. Finally got tired of waiting for it to be rentable so took the chance and bought it. I didn't realise that the movie is only part 1 of book 1 but that was a pleasant surprise because it meant they included a lot more of the book content. I thought they captured the pacing of the book really well in the movie, and visually it was stunning! There are certainly changes, as there always are, book to movie, but most were fine I thought. The only one that bugged me was...
they changed the Dr. Liet Kynes character from a man to a woman?! I hate when they do that in general, but it felt particularly unnecessary in this situation because Dune is full of already strong women characters who are already... women! There was no need to artificially add another woman character where the male character in that role worked just fine. IMO just a stupid change. Not to mention the actual detail that the Fremen are a male-lead, aggressive society. From the novel's perspective and the story of the Freman and Kynes, it is very unlikely that a woman Kynes would have been able to integrate and rise to influence with the Fremen the way the man Kynes did in the book. They respected Jessica because of her power as a Bene Gesserit but she was still in a very different role than the Fremen male hierarchy.
I think that the beginning song Time By pink Floyd in the Eternals for people that know the words to the story of that song would kind of understand the movie a little better but like I mentioned there was so much information that needed to be in that movie and left out so the movies storyline didn't seem that good, it should have been like an 8-10 ep mini serries so they could have started from the beginning and built the characters and what roll they played through out Earths History.

I did a little research after watching and the movie is a departure from the original comic series created by Jack Kirby. But even the original comic was cancelled after 19 issues (according to one source anyway) and wasn't very well received. Curious that they decided to factor them so heavily into MCU Phase 4.
that's my thought too, that I probably have to read the books now.
for those that have read the books and watched the last episode...how much further do the books continue the story from that point? or did they cut ot a lot of the story in the books and just jumped to the end?
