Really enjoyed The Martian but struggled with Hail Mary. Will drag it out some day and try again.
I've heard his books are very samey, that might be why
I've only read Hail Mary and thought it was great
I'm about to start the Halo - Forerunner Saga trilogy by Greg Bear.
I've read these and liked them, but I've never reread them.
The Kilo 5 trilogy though? At least 3 rereads.

since I'm a sick insomniac today, I was reading all night long and just more than halfway through 2034: A Novel Of The Next World War, book one of a trilogy describing a scenario leading up to what could / would become World War 3.

book two, 2054: A Novel is being released on March 12th.

Read this as well - great book IMO, I'll be starting 2054 as soon as I buy it this week.

Great book here as well -

Bit of a left wing/media slant, but she's a journalist, that's to be expected. Her access to those she was able to interview is what impressed me, and she's honest I think, and didn't put much if any spin on the information she was able to get from those interviews. Excellent work overall IMO, worth reading for the first chapter alone for those at all interested in what a initial exchange or even single warhead attack would look like in Washington D.C. While looking for a jpeg of the book cover for this post, I saw that it was nominated for a Pulitzer award too.

Just started reading this one. What's curious is the timing with the serial version of Fallout on Amazon which starts with a bang... Yes, the description of the destruction of a bomb in Washington is spooky - plus it's not even a big one.
The Doomsday Clock is near midnight for 2 things - climate change and nuclear war. But nothing like the atmosphere during the cold war, the Cuban Crisis, etc. As if we've become immune from hearing about these things.
