It's been a while, but it seems to me it was either 3,4, and 5 or 4,5, & 6 which really bogged down into too many plots.
IIRC book V (Fires of Heaven) is a real slog and then it happens again with book 9 or 10. Gets focused on too many side-plots and a few characters that just off and die or disappear by the next book or two. One or two of the villains that are reborn or reincarnated appear, seem like they'll be plot points and just kind of... don't?

It's been ages so I could be misremembering but it's something like that.

About 11 chapters into book five of the WoT. The preface chapter is stupidly long. Like 6 chapters long. It's holding up better than I remember so far, but the swelling of the cast is showing. I thought this one was the start of the first slog, but it's good so far (or maybe it's the second half of the book that really starts to buckle).

I always found it frustrating that Perrin isn't even mentioned in book 5. Not a single mention after all that Two Rivers action in 4.

Book 8 is where things get pretty bogged down I feel. Maybe a bit in 7. Then it stays rough through book 10, and picks back up a LOT after Sanderson takes over in 11.

I HATED the TV show. But I must say that Rosamund Pike does a fantastic job of narrating the books on Audible. She's apparently a huge fan of the books. She has completed narrating the first 4, and is working through the rest.

It's definitely weird. I could see reducing his chapters as book 4 was very Perrin-heavy (whereas Mat's pretty reduced), but it's a weird omission.

I'm going to start Book 6 on vacation, so I'll hit it in a couple days.

The show was.... not great. Weird casting choices, with some equally weird defenses online, but I agree on Pike being a good Moraine. Lan casting seems decent for what little he does in the show. Rand was okay. Perrin's actor seems good, though the re-write of his character is pretty bad (kills his wife, was in love with Egwene, etc). Mat's basically forgettable, though that seems by intent due to issues with the S1 actor (and his S2 end change was goofy). Nynaeve is okay, but not great and Egwene is outright pretty bad. Elayne seemed kind of forgettable but she didn't do much in S2 anyway.

I'll likely skip S3 unless it gets stellar reviews.

Moved onto book 6 on my flights to Punta Cana. The prologue 70 pages! The bloat of the cast is starting to show. The
Deposed Queen of Andor
sections are particularly dull and IIRC, they don't get any better.

IIRC the Rand and trainee Aes Sedai sections are decent in this one though and I'm glad to see Perrin return in the prologue.

It does have a solid ending tho.

TBH there is only 1 book I didn't like. Crossroads of Twilight. And it is just terrible.

That one was very Mat heavy IIRC and might be the one where
Moraine comes back
. It don't remember hating it, but it was pretty forgettable since not much is sticking out.

It is the only book I've ever reread where I've skipped chapters. Also I think one of 4 books (out of 400ish) that I've rated 2 out of 5 stars on goodreads. The Elayne chapters are just completely useless and snore enducing.
