that's supposed to be used with liquid metal. I guess removing the IHS is going to become a popular thing in short order!

Didn't intel revert back to soldering on the IHS? I de-lidded a 4790k because it was easy due to just having thermal interface, but if a chip's IHS is soldered I wouldn't chance it IMO.

Oh and there are places that used to bin and de-lid for a fee but moment I saw the pricing I ignored the idea. So you can buy them just not from Intel/AMD.

the fact that it takes a chicklet sized die and gives it a 200% increase in surface area really helps. thankfully i was able to cancel my EK order and get a refund before it imploded.
