ThermalTake Armor 8003 experiences anyone?

you are talking of the mesh that "act" like the 25cm fan grill?

i didnt choose the 8003SWA beacuse, my TT silent tower cooler wouldn't fit with the 25 cm fan on the clear side, but it fit like a charm in the 8000SWA

the fan grill of the 25 cm fan is metal mesh if that can answer your question

but why choosing the 8003 over the 8000 if your TR heatsink dont fit?

i meant the airflow of he 8000 is has great has the 8003. ive put 2 120mm fan in front and those make a nice big airflow over all the mobo and drives

i could post pics when i get back home on friday night

Well, the specs say there's a good 40-42mm in space delta which is about an inch and a half. Since the fan's an intake fan, I'm not overly concerned about the fan blades itself bumping up against the mesh on the inside of the case which would be the biggest issue if there's a contact point with the TR and the mesh itself. I think I've been eyeballing the 8003swa just because of that massive 250mm fan on the side of that thing.

Figured I'd do a follow up. After some significant backorder wait time I finally got the Thermalright Extreme in today and as soon as I saw it I knew there was going to be complications. Case va8003swa with the big fan plastered on to the side of it. At any rate, as expected, the heatsink sat not three centimeters from where the edge of the case would be without the fan. So, some modification was in order!

The simplest solution was to place the fan on the outside of the case and after a couple hours of work all was well! Well worth the effort for the heatsink as my TaT 100% load tests went from 60+ after 20 minutes to 51 on an E6600 clocked at 3.2Ghz. Now that I have room, I'll definitely push this chip harder and see what happens.

Pictures are included of course. I apologize for the quality. This quickcam web is nearly half my age!
