Toronto Maple Leafs...

The Leafs will miss the playoffs again. Matt Frattin 2.0? Wow, what a joke. The Shanahan PR debacle is just another way of distracting fans and now they have even worse owners (if that's possible) than before. Have fun. ;-)
 
Yeah they might miss the playoffs again... so are the pains of being a Leafs fan. However, I think the team has been moving in the right direction. IMO the turn around was when Burke took the helm. He made some good moves though there were some questionable ones as well I'll admit but the big thing he did was get control away from the owners. It was pretty much the team he built that finally got us to the playoffs after whatever many years. He gave the team an identity, a nasty gritty group that were miserable to play against. Not a lot of talent but pre-Burke the Leafs were a retirement home and we traded away all of our young talent to get these used-up-has-beens with no trade contracts. He was starting with less than nothing and I think on a whole he did very well. JFJ disassembled any identity we were starting to build and set us back a couple years. Shanahan looks like he's trying to get back what Burke did - give the team an identity, and a nasty one to boot. I don't think the team got any more talented in all the moves in the off season but they added a lot of size and grit. They will definitely be more entertaining to watch! Glad to see Komarov back too. And I think his re-acquisition defines just what the leafs have in mind.
 
Hockey

Agreed, they have finally started to turn things around and it all started with cleaning house of the ones who felt they had a right to play whether they put in a solid effort or were just there to collect a paycheck.

I like the Shanahan and analytics guy coming on board. Komarov is one I'm glad to have back, knows how to get under the opponents skin and has delivered some nasty hits!

It would seem if even a handful of players Brian tried to bring here would've come we would've been much much better imho. Sad to c D Bolland go, he's one I think they should've kept.

Something about those psycho leafs fans perhaps....?

Now my Habs are starting to look much better. Yes, the Leafs I cheer for, Habs have been my team since I can remember but most of my friends r Leafs fans( we're glutons for punishment).

Comes playoffs any Canadian team I root for.

The Leafs also hurt themselves by letting an entire solid and affordable tough minutes 2nd line go in Kulemin-Grabovski-MacArthur.
Then promptly using that money on Clarkson and Bolland.

I'm not convinced that Nonis is in any way a competent GM.
 
Well that game was an unorganized mess from both sides. Price having less rust to get out than Bernier was the decider. The young guys looked like they have a lot of promise. We're still lacking a lot major talent but it looks like this group will be a harder working group than last year. We'll see what they look like after they have a few games to gel.

I can understand this. I have some family members that are Habs fans... though you can't pick your family! TBH I do enjoy the Habs/Leafs rivalry but I don't really have a hate-on for Habs fans anymore as I've learned they typically despise Ottawa just as much as we do. The enemy of your enemy something or nother...

Laffs just lost to O6 rivals, Detroit. What a joke. There's nothing positive about the Leafs. They will gladly take your money if you're a fan and laugh all the way to the bank. If you're a fan and subscribe to any Rogers or Bell services, you have no right to complain. :)
 
Hockey

After watching the Laffs fall flat on their faces too many times I decided to start watching my NHL team again, the Canadiens.

Too many reasons not to be a Leafs fan. Money is the bottom line here, hockey isn't top priority imho.

No big time players want to go to that cesspool of hockey experts just to be chastised for being human.

Imho when they hired BB instead of the MAN, Scotty Bowman, who wanted complete control of hockey

ops,funny, same thing as BB, that told me where their loyalties lie. $$$$$

Right now the Laffs would be a contender. BB did a lot of what had to be done, clean out the riff raff,...

So when they didn't hire SB it told me they don't care about winning, just making money.


Until there's a revolt or mass exodus, imho, things won't change there.

Funny how the richest team in the league can keep putting out those results and never seem to get it right ( could it be intentional), yet people are still following them.

They're the richest yet put out such crap!!!

If they make the playoffs, lol, I might cheer for them during their games being a Canadian team...

Oh, and so much for M Frattin 2.0...
