I love hughson as well. It was a sad day when he left the canucks. However, I think John shorthouse is the next best or along side Hughson.. he's a great announcer as well.
 
While I absolutely can't stand him I'd be hesitant to say he's the worst. Although that comment about Magnus Paajaarvi Svensson being the best player on the Oilers (despite the fact that he's never even played an NHL game) was rather ignorant & stupid.

Others that aggravate me just as much, if not moreso than him:
John Garrett
Peter Loubardios (sp? - why oh why do we get stuck with him for the Olympics? Nasally twat)
Harry Neale
Glen Healy (I think he'd be my #1)

After a horrible start, Kevin Weekes is slowly getting better.

Perhaps CTV should bring in Jim Ralph for the Olympics. Sure he's a Leafs broadcast homer, but he's hella better than McGuire is.

His hockey knowledge is top notch, his commentating... not so much. I believe Pierre should be coaching in the NHL but he can be very annoying to have to listen for hours on end.
