Unifi UDM Issue (AC voltage through Ethernet shield)

Heads up to all of those who bought UDM (non-pro). There is an issue on all board revisions that leaks AC voltage onto the Ethernet port shielding. Big ouch. If you have a multimeter and are comfortable with probing AC voltage you can check your unit too.

So they measured the current to be within acceptable limits. Here’s the official response.

As someone with a full on background in Instrumentation & Electronics repair; This whole *fiasco* is FUD.

Also, one of the main threads that caused all this drama is here;

The mods even sticked a few posts which show why using a multimeter like this is garbage; the short (heh) story is understanding Floating Grounds, isolated, and double isolated devices, and what HighZ vs LowZ impedence multimeters do.

If you ran around your house with a multimeter and did this same 'test' you would be shocked (heh) how many devices would give you readings like this. You could also isolate (heh) this problem by plugging the device in to a GFCI, or an Arc Fault Interrupter. Both would pop (if the OP was telling the truth) and a shock was even attempted...
