UPS APC always turns itself off as a battery, but never stops transferring power

Not a PSU, but the closest section.

I have a Cyberpower 1350 UPS. It seems to regularly turn itself 'off' (no lights on the display), but always works as a surge protector/powerbar. Because it goes 'off' when I have a power outage everything turns off as there's no battery function working.

The dead fuse light on the back hasn't tripped and I'd hit the 'breaker reset' on the back. Any thoughts? Is it just dead/time for a replacement?

I have a cyberpower 1500 and as long as I have owned it the lights have never been on, but it still provides power when there is an outage. Are you able to connect to it with a usb and get any info that way?

There is a printer style usb on the back, I'll look into that. I'm sure Cyberpower has documentation on their site about it.

I did a wall pull test and it did keep power on for a very short period, so maybe the batteries are just toast (or my system has too much draw (though the batteries may have already been partially drained from last night/early this morning). Worst case I may get a second one to split up my wifi and modem from the pc one. Having the wifi go down triggers my smart lights to turn on when power comes back on which is a bit annoying.

I think it's probably working just fine, but was set oddly in the software. Download and install the SW, connect via USB then check: I'll bet its been set to "conserve battery power", aka shut off immediately. You can then change it to like run for 5 mins or as long as the battery goes, etc. 👍

Well connecting it to the PC in the powerpanel settings show it's 'working normally' in the top right, but if I try to run the self-test it says it didn't pass. Guessing it's very likely the batteries are dead.

Will likely get a second unit anyway and swap the batteries on this one at some point soon.

A rule of thumb, replace your batteries every 3 years. I have a number of CyberPower UPS, and I have learned the hard way to have a spare around.

CyberPower UPS work well with apcupsd. I have not tested it with NUT though.

Also, contact CyberPower - I think there is 18 months warranty. They will just send you a new battery if you provide them with an invoice for your unit OR replacement batter that you bought.

I have all APC units in my house the oldest one is now just over 6 years old and I have never had to replace the batteries in any of them, yet they all still pass/work perfectly and I have 6 of various models, that being said getting batteries for the APC units is pretty easy to find and there not a crazy price, it may be cheaper to just get yourself a new battery. good luck
