Tapping into the HWC KnowledgeBase here: does anyone know of a case that can fit a vertical GPU that isn't terrible? By that I mean two things: 1) the gpu isn't jammed up against a restrictive grill or even more restrictive window and 2) that the vertical gpu has good airflow access and/or is directly fed by 1 fan or more.

Been searching for a little while and I'm shocked how many dumb designs are out there... sure you can see the gpu clearly when it's jammed up against the window, but that also compromises the airflow and overheats the gpu.

I'll keep looking around, but post away if you have suggestions. I'd prefer mATX or smaller if possible.

Thanks HWC 🤘

That's a tough ask.... Cases are so subjective.

The one that immediately comes to mind is the TT Core P3 ATX. That has tons of room for the vertical mount, but it's also an open air case.

The Lian Li O11D Evo - has 3 options for mounting a GPU - normal horizontal, vertical in front of the MB, then upright beside the MB, closer to the front of the case.

Each 2 vertical options require the optional kit to be purchased, however.

thermaltake core P3, I have the white one and the card has a fair bit of room and loads of airflow since it is a pretty open case I just dont know if it comes in MAtx case or not, I like all the options this case gives me for positions I.E laying flat/mounted/standing

O11D Evo is interesting at least. But it's also full size and the GPU dumps its heat into the case in an odd way unless you have a blower.

Tbh a vertical gpu mount works best when the airflow comes from "underneath"/ the pcie slot side and rises, taking the heat away from the card.

The problem with chimney style is that you almost always compromise something else to do it. And unless you have a blower or water cooling for your gpu, it's dumping heat towards the glass, away from airflow.

i'd throw my hat in ring on the EVOLV SHIFT XT built a 5950x build in one the gpu blasts the heat out the side.
That's a sandwich style, which has its own problems. If you go AIO water cooler at the top, the rad eats hot air coming off the gpu. So you've got to air cooling for both cpu and gpu, leaving you with a tiny heatsink for the former and little intake and nearby airflow for the latter.
