Between a WD Blue 2.5" SSD for $69.99 or a Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" SSD for $74.99, both of them 500GB, which is the better option?

If you're in Canada the consensus tends to be avoid Samsung due to lack of Canadian RMA options. So for that reason go WD, unless you have another compelling reason for Samsung.

I just bought a 980 pro 500gb nvme drive, and an 860 evo 2tb drive yesterday. Warranty aside, the evo 860 is still a very good sata ssd, probably one of the better ones. I think blue is a step below. maybe even lower than the samsung qvo line.

I've used samsung drives and never had a problem.

Regardless, you'll probably be happy either way.
