I wonder.. with the drivers removed, does Spybot registry cleaner still fix drivers weirdness? Might be worth trying, use the S&D registry cleaner without all drivers un-installed, then try to put the Asus ones back in?

Well I mean you did "lose" 4c/8t too in this "downgrade" to the 9800X3D... so I could understand your multitasking being impacted, though I don't really see how World of War Ships and Plex would be enough to do so.

Sounds like you had COD issues before too? And now it's just worse?

Having your RAM not running at XMP/EXPO is a detriment as well, a lot of performance is lost. I would at least re-enable that.

The most obvious I can think of, go into Windows Security > Device security > Core isolation, and disable Memory integrity (commonly known as VBS). This has a long history of impacting performance.

True about the cores, maybe.. I'll keep an eye on it tonight. FPS in Warships doesn't seem to be impacted, still 165-200+

I had random crashes with COD DMZ regardless of the build, they just seem to happen a bit more now. Zombies though has (up until the windows reinstall) been flawless. I played several hours and 0 noticeable issues.

I only turned expo (thanks, couldn't remember the correct term) off for testing.

I will try the memory integrity tonight. I have to do that for several pc's at work for various reasons, be interesting to see if that's it.

Interestingly I'm in a similar situation. I also had a 9900x that was running flawlessly. I ended up switching over to a 9800x3d and reinstalled windows. I used a USB made from Microsoft's media creation tool. Also running an Asus (x670) board with asus drivers.

My particular issue comes when switching desktops, waking from sleep mode, or launching applications/games. The system just 'hangs' for 2 or 3 seconds while in transition. Almost like a very long stutter. It's fairly consistent and reproducable. I haven't noticed any multitasking issues so far, but I always have a hundred things going at once, so...

I've moved the 9900x over to a separate machine on a B850 board and it runs fine.

I'm a little behind (a month maybe) on checking for updates and drivers. That was going to be my next step. But with all the NVidia driver issues, I was a bit hesitant to get everything up to date. Perhaps I'll start with checking BIOS (I think it's current) and grabbing the latest AMD drivers from AMD directly.

I'm keeping an eye on this thread due to relevance though.

I should mention that I stopped getting chipset drivers from Asus I just grab them from AMD.

Hmm the delay sounds familiar. I originally offered a 9900x3d, cancelled it, then a 9950x, cancelled it and ordered a 9900x again. Be interesting to see if it goes back to “normal”

I have the 9800X3D on a ASUS STRIX X870E-E as well. Our RAM surely differs, I have CL28 DDR5-6000 Corsair Vengeance. I have a SN850 for the OS, SN850X for my games, similar there too. Also have a RTX 4080. I'm using M2_1 (right side of board) and M2_4 and M2_5 (bottom of board) to avoid any PCIe lane sharing.

I use the optimized EXPO profile, along with the AI Cache and AI Overclocking features. Basically fully committed to the ASUS "ecosystem". Running the latest 1203 BIOS.

Everything runs smoothly here. I didn't even re-install Windows from my former 5950X.

It almost sounds like a windows scheduler issue, but I would have thought it would be big news if lots of folks were having issues.

The only suggestions I could think of have already been tried. Bios updates, windows updates (including any possible optional ones).

Turned off memory integrity, no change.

4th core was the highest utilization watching Nightmare on Elmstreet 4 and Warships and highest saw was 50%

THe gpu was sitting at 93% and using 6gb memory
