Reinstalled COD Zombies and played way too late last night without issues. Made my personal best to level 14 by myself, so the tiredness today was worth it.
Guess either go with a cpu with more cores or don't play Warships and plex at the same time..
So you moved back to a 9900x and all is well?
I've been having stuttering issues in a variety of games and I'm wondering about core count as well. I'm a heavy multitasker and I tend to leave a lot on the go on one desktop, then Win+Tab over to a second desktop for gaming. I wonder if I'm just hitting performance limitations for multithreading on the 9800X3D?
If I went with a 9900X3D/9950X3D, I wonder what gaming performance would look like? Would all the general multithreading work be bumped to the non-X3D CCD while games launched and used 3D cache? Or does one CCD shut down entirely when a game launches and I'm left in the same boat?
*EDIT* Also, did you reinstall Windows when swapping down to the 9900x from an X3D?
DMZ you say? Lets hook up man! My battle net: HaDeS#15229Since I moved from the 9900x to the 9800x3d I've been noticing a couple "odd" things. Late last week I did a fresh install of Windows 11 to see if it would help with my COD DMZ crashes.
Since the Windows reinstall COD Blackops zombies gives me some artifacting ie the health meter will disappear or everything will disappear on the mini map or the whole screen will take on a brownish color and then the grass will slowly come back in blotches. Before the reinstall, Zombies was flawless.
COD DMZ, well... DMZ I've always had issues with crashes (directx) regardless of the build, guess can ignore this as it's just the default and isn't specific to this build (but if someone has any ideas, that'd be SWEET) Well, crashes do seem to be a little more, maybe once an hour. CPU and GPU temps appear fine. (CPU 55ish GPU 55-60ish)
Prior to the 9800x3d when playing world of war ships, I'd play the game and run plex flawlessly on the second monitor. Since changing from the 9900x to the 9800x3d Warships plays fine, but plex will consistently stutter. Even with the i7 it was perfectly fine. Both monitors are connected to the 4080, was thinking of running the 2nd monitor off of the integrated video. GPU though is at max 92% usage and 55-60C temp and CPU is under 50% and 50ish for temp.
Windows is fully patched, bios is up to date, did a bios reset last night, newest chipset driver from AMD. It's odd, I did a full uninstall and tried to install the chipset drivers from Asus. but it hangs on the determining specs page. Newest driver from Nvidia.
There is no overclocking (that I'm aware of) except for the ram, I did disable xmp to take that out of the equation, the system is set to "normal" in the bios and no overclocking on the GPU.
Any ideas or direction will be greatly appreciated
