Not sure if you are following the other CP2077 thread but I had a bit of the opposite experience. I did a bit of side questing but focused mainly on the main story missions and the Panam stuff. Then when I got to the warning message mission that you are entering the end of the main story, I delayed that and went back and started doing a lot of the gigs and side missions. I found that I had missed out on a lot of the NPC character development and stories, as well as my character development, by steaming towards the main story ending. Also the side stuff takes you to a lot more locations in NC.I tried to get back into CP2077 this weekend but after half a day it didn't really suck me back in. I played it for 100hrs at launch but got super sidetracked on questing and leveling and didn't quite finished the story.
It isn't a "great" game by any stretch, unfortunately, but I am still enjoying it and getting into a few of the other side storylines and locations. I didn't realise before I started playing that they purposely made CP2077's main story shorter because people complained the main story in Witcher 3 was too long (total weirdness to me... I have never complained about having too much gameplay!). So that made me realise I was kind of playing CP2077 wrong, in that their intention was never that the main story be the full game experience.
I'm also playing Detroit: Become Human now as well, after recommendations on here and a sale. What an interesting gaming experience that is! And it's visually stunning. Very glad I picked it up. It is very unique. The combat system sucks, but as long as you know that going in it's bearable. The whole mash this button, mash that button game mechanic is terrible imo but I realise it was a console game first I think.
