What is wrong with HCF? Member's and Staff Options Wanted

Well. Lets lay it on the line; we will start with me: 100% of my posts are pretty much completely and utterly worthless...

Give yourself some credit. Judging from your posts in this thread your posts are both vulgar and offensive. (heavy on the vulgar) Reading them I feel like I've visited a run down bar on the wrong side of town but didn't get the benefit of a cold beer in a dirty glass. But you do seem to have your followers.

So is this thread really about making this forum better or is it about 2 cliques having a hissy fit over an abundance of vapid posts and poor grammar on the part of a few individuals? One clique complaining "It's BAD" and the other complaining "Don't complain". Sheesh... if that's so, and if this forum can manage to resolve this major issue, let's move on to the middle east peace process next = I predict Hamas and the JDL exchanging daisies within a week.

If the above is correct and the problem has grown to the extent where it is actually deemed worthy of the mods starting a "What is wrong with HCF" thread then I'd suggest the mods seriously need to grow a pair and decide where "The wrath of GOD must falleth"...

The difference is; outside of this thread I've not said a peep. While this other clique you speak of, is literally irritating the shit out of the staff and other members here.

Apparently zero cannot stand Dan, but he's the first to reply to his thread. (This happens often) with a very obviously passive aggressive attack - he could have chosen to move on, or ask Dan what he was referring to. Instead he's trying to derail another thread. Of course he goes on to veil his intentions with a "polite" "I honestly did not realize that" comment at the end.

You'll also note I did not add to the fire and make a comment about it in that specific thread, instead choosing to keep it to this thread.

I hold no punches, when you're certain about something and mature enough to know you're correct in a matter - you can do that too.

I'm not the one contributing to the problems right now, I'm arguing them in the designated thread. The people who ARE causing the problem, are still at their game all over the forums.

I thought this thread was about options. Banning everybody won't work as a first option. You need progressive discipline and that system is now being fixed. Good. I mentioned what I thought should generally be done a while back.

The site is growing...

- The tone of the site will attract more folks who approve of the tone. If we are rude and shrill with each other, we will get more folks like that. I don't want this and I don't want to be a part of it.

- If we continuously post gibberish, we will continue to attract similar folks posting gibberish. Better then to go elsewhere for help, rather than try to decipher what the heck folks are talking about.

**The community is at a crossroads. As we grow, who do we want to join us and stick around?

I am goddamn sick of the personal attacks and being sucked into this stuff. This thread is just getting awkward and has run its course IMO.

Be nice to each other, and work with those making the problematic posts.

I find that there are people who think they know everything as well as people that need help eating their cereal. Then there are most of us who are in between these groups.

1. If the know-it-alls would temper their egos, there would be little problems.
2. Stop posting in threads for people you do not like and ignore them.
3. Stop telling people they are wrong.
4. Stop feeling you are the only one that is right.
5. If your post is only to demean someone in the thread then just don`t post.

I don`t post much anymore as I find the current crop of people who tend to feel they need to tell people what is right and wrong are not up to the job and they just troll. This forum is headed where all small forums go when the active member base is small, down the toilet. There are not enough active people to have such divisive groups. Believe me, myself as well as many people will absolutely NOT miss you when you pick up your puck and leave.

To the mods and staff, you have a tough job here. I see no way out of this situation. This thread is proof positive this forum is badly divided and broken and even the people who promise to leave (which would only help the situation) will NEVER leave because they feel they are the reason for the success.

Banning people will not work, its not needed. Editing threads for content is a horrible idea as well. The only real solution is for moderators to harshly punish those that disrespect anyone else on any level. My .02 and my one and only post to this steaming pile of rubble of a thread......

THE IRC CHANNEL

It's a cesspool of people sitting around in a divisive sub-community from the rest of the forums, plotting, talking, and spreading bullshit propaganda about whatever the people in there feel like talking about.

I know a lot of the members in there are cool people.. but the reason all this bullshit is going on is because all the grumpy ass members get together on IRC and bitch and complain, and then they feel like they've got it right and can bring all their shit back here.

I think Gav should remove all official association with the IRC channel and remove any mention of it from the forums.

That's both unfair and untrue.

As the Admin there , I am in there 24/7.I know what goes on.

Yes there is some whining and complaining , just like any public communication method but 99% of it is hardware discussion . When shit does happen it's people bringing it from the forums into IRC , not the other way around as you suggest.

Except that those are run by HWC....

No one from HWC is asking you to shut down IRC Brain - It has its purpose, and while it may have been used as a meeting place for people who only wished to be shit disturbers at one point - its not like the HWC 4chan :bleh: and as you mentioned it could happen elsewhere regardless.
