discussion What is your coolant of choice?

I was just wondering what people's opinions were on what the best coolants and additives were. What do you specifically think of Deionized water and water wetter- I realize that there is some corrosion potential with th edeionized water, but I wonder if the water wetter would ionize it somewhat.

Personally I use distilled and a little bit of iodine. Anything else and you're harming the ability of the water to flow or absorb heat, or conduct heat etc etc etc.

Use all copper blocks and you won't have to worry about corrosion.

That's good to hear about the copper- I just happen to have de-ionized water, and the only concern I've found with it is the slight corrosion potential- all my blocks are copper so I think I'm good- The water wetter is designed to increase heat transfer, and is supposed to be an improvement over just water, but there has been one complaint of it creating goo- I'm going to try it anyway- if it isn't good, I'll switch.

Probably prevents algae from forming.

I just got my water cooling gear today -- very very excited-- Just finishing up my runs on Air now- then heading down to the basement for some major case chopping.

Definately going to be pics! Just finished my air runs- The A1 revision, while not overclocking any higher, is benching slightly better for the C2D's- the e6400 is performing better than the e4300 (that's all I'll give away for now). I'm going to be off line until tommorrow probably- I wish I had some of Skittles' Red Bull....

Personally, i used almost all kind of stuff. From Pre-mixed Non-conductive coolants (Which is a no no) to lately Distilled water with a small drops of Zerex Supercoolant. My stuff also was suppsosed to arrive today....


I was waiting after some G11 Pentosin UV Blue Additive, some Tubing, a new Reservoir, some hoseclamps and some other stuff. Guess ill have to wait for next week.
