Whats your latest purchase?

A Wifi 7 (BE200) card for my laptop.......

("slowly" working my way up to a U7 Pro...... :) ).

Roughly equivalent connection speed(s) to the realtek on 5G channel.

Lower speeds connected to my bell router (further away), but on a positive note it's connecting to the 6Ghz channel even though it's not a great connection.

This bodes well for connecting to the U7 Pro which should be arriving early next week. banana

edit: Probably a good idea to note that the BE200 is only compatible with intel processors and that Windows 10 does not support wifi 7.

You have the GigaHub, so it's 6E? That seems on the slow side but maybe it's just from a weak signal then. I was able to get around 1Gbps on my Pixel 7 Pro from the Rogers XB8 modem (6E), but my U6-Pro is around 600Mbps (6).

Yeah, that's the 6e connection on a 6Ghz channel. It's in the basement 30'+ away, and through a wooden floor so I'm not surprised at the low(ish) speeds when compared to my normal U6 lite connection.

Much better luck connecting to the 6Ghz band(s) with this be200 card than I had with AX-210 cards. Those were hit and miss connecting to 6e even within 10' of the router.

I believe I got close to 1G when I had the XB8 (I trialled it before they were released) but it's been a while so I don't remember for sure. On the negative side of this.... I just realised that my OnePlus 12R is only wifi 6 isn't a tri-band device so it can only connect on the 2.4 or 5 ghz bands. (edited for correction).

edit: Another comment.... that 6e connection is with the Giga-Hub in the basement close to midway and the laptop is up a floor at the far end so the giga-hub's wifi should be sufficient on it's own for most folks who aren't running speedtest 24/7. When mine was installed, he started at the connection entry point of the house which is in the basement at the far Left/Rear corner, but was more than willing to use a fairly long fiber cable when I asked to have the router more central to the basement so that I'd get decent coverage throughout the house for the STBs.

New UPS as my old one decided it wanted to not work. It may be batteries, but not totally sure about that. Will test them later and if just bad then I'll get some batteries for it and replace the really old ups I have in the basement.

My new one is a CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD.
Ugh... I really should by one of those... :rolleyes:

I like my cyber power. Works great!

With regards to the old UPS, just wondering what peoples thoughts are now that I was able to test it without expensive stuff plugged into it.

The batteries tested with a multimeter showed 10.4V and 10.8V. Internet seems to think below that is dead. I then plugged them back into the unit and plugged it in and with nothing connected it says on its display that the battery is at 100%. I plug in a fan and still 100% at about 4% load. I then unplugged the UPS from the wall to see how long it would go. It shows the battery drop to 0 and then right off in about half a second. I'm guessing it sounds like the just the batteries are toast right? But if you plug the unit back in and turn it on it still shows the batteries at 100%. So that is making me think otherwise.

Any thoughts?

Oh as for purchase I did get my new tablet today, the Lenovo Tab M11. Only cost me about $110 after sale, Lenovo reward money and Rakuten. So far it is nice enough and seems to do the job I got it for, as a screen for the app with my rowing machine.

When batteries are dead the unit will behave like you described like nothing is wrong until A/C power is removed.

You can try a trickle charger and charged the batteries separately to isolate the charge circuitry.

Probably time to take the batteries out and get whatever replacement ones they have at battery depot (or whatever your local cheap battery store is).

E5-2640 V4 to replace the E5-2609 V3 cpus in the server I'm building up. Quite a huge performance jump for nearly the same TDP.

2x6 core / 6 thread
->
2x10 core / 20 thread

So 12 threads -> 40 threads for a cost of $15
