Heh..... I'm not overly familiar with the market.... is putting a "Use at your own risk" silkscreen warning directly on the PCB a common practice???
Not as far as I know, but I suspect it's been added since it requires opening up a CRT and modifying it. Given the energy storage can give a person a massive shock, I can't really blame them. I don't think there's any recorded fatalities, but the shocks can be pretty nasty.

(Which is a good reminder to buy some heavily insulated electrical gloves).

We had a dude damn near kill himself in his barracks while working on a CRT. :) (This was during Electronics trades training).

The most common narrative was that it threw him across the room, but I'm not sure I buy that. :)

I am fairly well versed in the dangers of CRTs.

I almost wrote a comment about throwing across the room as I've read that from several places, but like yourself I don't quite buy it. Maybe I could see people's leg muscles cramping and contracting so much they 'jump' or fling themselves, but it's not as if electricity shoots a kinetic mass into people.

I saw a kid stick a pen into a socket and give himself a good shock in junior high, it was all muscles that flung his arm back haha.

Might have to pick your brain later once I start delving into the guts of the one I have. Debating swapping out the caps too, but I'm not sure if it'll be worth the effort.

I do recall someone getting a good enough shock that their arm was numb for a few minutes but nothing as extreme as being thrown.
