I had quad GPU setup. 2x liquid cooled 6990s. Power hungry bastards lack of vram and high power draw was really the down fall. They were 4GB cards but it was 2GB/core. Means in crossfire/quadfire only had 2GB of usable vram not 8GB. That was ultimately the setups downfall, was willing to deal with high power draw. It could play 3x1080p or even 4k at decent frame rates but certain things would just bring it down to its knees when I hit vram limits.
Honestly makes less sense now. 2gpus with 24GB each... throwing out all that vram potential if you were to use a crossfire equivalent.
This cards target really appears to be ai/virtualization etc
Also was just looking at a k1 grid... quad gpu on a single card
