As you know the system I'm building is a S939 system. I just got my AMD Opteron 144 (1.8GHz) from Super Grover in the mail today.

After careful consideration the motherboard I am getting is the DFI LANParty UT NF4 SLI-DR Motherboard ATX S939 (Not Expert/Venus) - $156.88

Now this leaves me with a memory choice.

1st Choice: Patriot Signature Line 1GB 2x512MB PC3200 DDR400 - $86.39

The only thing is for the life me I can not find the timings anywhere. I search by the Part# PSD1G4003KH and still nothing. Nothing on the specs sheet from Patriot, so I fired them off an e-mail asking what the timings are. I should get a response back in 24-48 hours.

2nd Choice: Crucial BallistiX 1GB DC 2x512MB PC3200 DDR400 - $135.00

The timings on this memory is 2-2-2-6 which is sick :shok:
All the reviews I have read also claim that this memory kicks ass. But is it worth the extra $48.61? Another bonus is this memory is at a local computer shop so I wouldn't have to pay shipping.

:help:

If you're planning on putting it on a DFI sli-dr board, you'd be well advised to check out the O/C & Stock databases over in DIY-Street for compatability.

Those can be mighty picky about ram.

Thanks sswilson. After finding a memory sticky on DIY Street and seeing which memory is available I've decide to go with the Crucial BallistiX kit.

Ouch, 3-4-4-8 for PC3200 speeds? You'll be happy with the Ballistix. I had the same kit and had good luck overclocking:

2-2-2-6 @ 2.5v / 200MHz, DDR400, 2.0GHz
1.5-2-2-6 @ 2.5v / 200MHz, DDR400, 2.0GHz
2-2-2-6 @ 2.8v / 218MHz, DDR436, 2.4GHz
1.5-2-2-6 @ 2.8v / 218MHz, DDR436, 2.4GHz
2.5-3-3-6 @ 2.8v / 229MHz, DDR458, 2.521GHz
2.5-2-3-6 @ 2.9v / 270MHz, DDR540, 2.7GHz
2.5-4-4-10 @ 3.2v / 260MHz, DDR520, 2.85GHz
2.5-4-4-10 @ 3.2v / 280MHz, DDR561, 2.80GHz

Bab The timings I got was right from Patriot. 2.5-3-3-7 is what I'm running on my PC2700 .

Deathspawner: To get 2-2-2-6 @ 2.8v / 218MHz, DDR436, 2.4GHz what raito were you using?

I can't say for sure... these results were from over two years ago. Doesn't really matter though... but I'm sure it was 1:1. If I wanted a higher CPU clock speed at the time, I would have used a different one.
