So I've got a fun project going on that I haven't really mentioned here. Without spoiling, my monitors of choice, two Planar PCT2485s... are just too heavy.

So I'm looking for lightweight, touchscreen monitors, that have a vesa mounting pattern. Problem is, not many (or no) name brands really seem to make them? Everything on Amazon looks like it was spelled by my cat stepping on the keyboard.

So yeah, looking for suggestions!
Absolute musts:
- Touchscreen
- 1080p
- 14" diagonal
- Vesa 100x100 or 75x75
- UNDER 10lbs each, give or take

Nice to haves:
- 4k
- Ports on the back (who the #$%& decided portable monitors all needed to plug into the outer edges with flimsy connectors? One smack and broken, bleh)
- 18-20" or bigger. 27" max (maybe)
- Under 8lbs
- Name brand

If possible:
- OLED? I'm always a sucker for OLEDs
- HDMI + 4k, 120hz?
- Durable glass coating, Gorillaglass?
- Thin bezels

As always, thanks in advance HWC. I'm starting to dig through reviews of all these cheap, weird, nonsense -named monitors. Just hoping someone else has already found some good ones.

Aliexpress all showing portable or industrial use for touchscreen.
Portable is fine, companies that suddenly exist then cease to exist aren't. Just random characters slapped on a keyboard to sell for a little while, scam -ish "sellers" won't fulfill many orders, hoping that by the time people report they haven't gotten their item, they've gotten paid by Ali or whatever. They'll disappear when negative reviews start rolling in - too many to counter with faked positive reviews - and come back a bit later with a new slap -keyboard name. 🤷‍♂️🙄

The only reason I suggested Ali is because no one else is selling touchscreens. Lenovo used to have one but has been discontinued on their website, you could find them on eBay but the prices are crazy expensive. I guess eBay would give you a bit better protection against scammers.

I believe ViewSonic still has a couple.

Checked. Sadly it appears to just be a fullsize monitor with a kickstand. Too heavy.

I've also checked Lenovo and Dell... which appear to use the exact same models? All the ports are in a flimsy bottom "leg", which means all the wires going through that leg's hinge, and the ports still stick out the sides. Bleh.

Basically these two appear to me only decent options:
1) UPerfect 21.5" 1080p 120hz VESA, $400 (owch), 2.9 pounds : Link
2) UPerfect 18.5" 4k 60hz, VESA, also $400ish, 3 pounds : Link

... actually they're almost all from UPerfect (or other weird brands). They get less expensive when you decrease size and resolution, but smaller than 18in diagonal is already borderline useless.

The problem is 400ish a monitor (I need two), unknown brands, annoying side ports, and build quality. Guess I can't have my cake and eat it too.

Anyone else find anything better?

too heavy? you said up to 27" was good...that's gonna be HEAVY!

take a look at Arzopa? and have you checked to see what Asus has to offer?
The 27 part was VERY wishful thinking. Turns out like no one makes portable monitors bigger than 21.5-22" diagonal 16:9. And because those 22ish ones are THE Biggest, they're also the most expensive. Probably a 60-80$ LCD panel with a digitized and the cheapest electronics possible inside... costs them $100-150ish to make and they want $400+ for them. Bleh.

Really don't know how I can afford to drop $1k for bleh monitors right now... might have to stick to a couple of old 13 inchers I've currently got.. which will be so far away they'll pretty much be useless and illegible. 😓 Don't know what to do.

there was an asus monitor that I recalled memex having as special order however it isn't even 1080p. (asus vt168hr)

A client dropped off a giant touchscreen that is 27in (forget actual size) or better and I'll say it is damn heavy and I thought it would have been amazing in the RV but I talked to the client about it and he shared the pricing to get it made... does not remotely fit your budget or weight requests.

I think you will find most affordable touch screens that meet your criteria will be raw frames and control boards meaning they don't meet the VESA requirements. However if you find 2x Portable USB monitors that you like there are VESA mounts for tablets that would likely hold a portable USB monitor.
