when you said 'savory' I was thinking this was about the AMD edible gai gai silicon I saw in a headline the other day. much disappoint.
China's going places., but still waaay behind. the latest 4c / 8t Loongsoon has the same IPC as Zen4 and Raptor Lake, but suffers from very low clock speeds and terrible efficiency. due to that, the recorded performance shows it to be 20 - 40% lower than the 10th gen i3-10100.

hmmm. seems Loongson is working on a 16 core server focused CPU with Zen 3 IPC and really trying to tape out a 64 core version. the power efficiency of their 3000 series is pretty bad, 50w for their 4 core / 8 thread mobile solution, so a 16 core let alone a 64 core CPU is likely to be crazy, unless something SIGNIFICANT changes in the jump to the 6000 series.
