A very long time ago, I had a R/C ship - a Billings Boat Fishing Trawler about a meter long. 6 volt motor in the boat. My cousin was into electronics and model aircraft flying. He helped me assemble the r/c unit - if I recall correctly it was a Heathkit unit. When I moved near the Niagara River/Lake Erie there wasn't any good spots to use it. Packed it away and eventually passed it on to a neighbour's kid and they moved away - so I don't know it's fate.

For several years I did a lot of rc flying. Had a blast and kept it relatively low cost with all foam based models and brushless motors, and 3 cell lithium polymer batteries that were commonly sized across them. Went through a couple "3D" aerobatic planes and some flying wings for more speed. I still have all the hardware and would just have to get a new "airframe" to put it in, but I haven't used it in a while now. Everything has become super regulated since drones went crazy.

Other than that RC cars/trucks when I was much younger.

I'm surprised nobody has commented that have something from DJI.

@Bond007 in the drone world, if it's 249g or less, it's mostly unregulated unless being used commercially. over 249g (up to 20 lbs, I believe) you need to have some sort of pilot's license. bureaucratic non-sense really, flight school, tests, and maintenance programs to keep it valid.

I thought I heard that all applies to rc planes now as well (I could be wrong). My planes were all around a kilo or so if I remember right (around 1m wingspan).

for drones that big / heavy you would need to get that license. meant to say that for anything over 249g, you also have to obey the airport exclusion zones...5 nautical mile circumference; unless you're an MAAC member and have a local and approved airfield...which can have exceptions to the exclusion zones.

Way back in the late 80s I had one of these
It was great, I bought polished aluminum wheels for it, had a friend do a custom airbrushed paint job, and put some on-road tires for extra grip on pavement. That was so much fun to build and drive.
Never did get another car.

Sweet!

Before kids I had a few Revo's, had a Savage Flux, Mugen MBX5-T that I converted, and a MBX5-B Pro Spec that I converted.

I have been meaning to get my boys into it, maybe this will be the summer we do.

yeah, the RC10 is a huge community. my Losi Mini JRX2 is a clone of some sort of RC10 styled car from the 80's. can't wait to get it out and try it!

I wish I took more pictures of that stuff, or kept parts of it to show off in my house today. Always wanted to try flying a helicopter but never went through with it.
