Why are the MAC's and apple stuff so expensive?

I've never found chicks in bikinis on bikes or cars hot, quite the opposite actually. I would love to get a Harley though, or any bike of similar style. I hate crotch rockets.

I find hot girls hot no matter what they do.... well.... to a point, I'm sure someone could find something on the interwebs. But anyway....

The only style of bike that I can see riding is a crotch rocket of some sort. Sure, it could be a sport tourer, or something of that sort but the cruiser style bike is woefully inadequate on a lot of areas, mostly handling and braking. The increased performance in all aspects make the sportbike safer, in my opinion.

If I was going to ride a cruiser style I'd probably end up with the Yamaha VMAX

It's a prestige thing really. They do have their places, but not nearly as much as people blindly adopt them for.

Their advertisements are effective enough to get people to pay double of what the products are worth.

Advertising, when done right, works. Not many companies advertise properly. Apple does. You and I don't fall for their bullshit but everyone else does.

And how many people have shitty luck with a $500 hp/dell/acer laptop, then go on to buy a $1500 macbook pro next and think WOW THIS IS AMAZING! Totally worth the Apple tax!!

If they would have spent $1500 on a laptop in the first place....

And the iphones are more expensive than they should be but they are the best selling smartphone. Hell they should charge even more, people will still buy it anyways. Hell they haven't even changed the boring OS or UI since the original iPhone how many years ago? They just keep adding small features to keep it almost relevant compared to android that has much matured recently and the gap is gonna be even more tremendous with time.

But when they add a feature, like panoramic photos with iOS 6, they advertise the shit out of it. How many people knew that was standard in Android 4.0? Not many. How many people knew about android pull down notifications when apple added it for iOS5? Only people with android phones already. That's the thing, the android phone manufactures don't advertise properly. FINALLY Samsung is advertising the features of the galaxy S3, and voila, best selling android phone yet. HTC's ad for the One series had absolutely nothing to do with the phone or it's features, and their market share is falling. People don't even know what the one X is!

I should be in marketing. Shit is too easy :blarg:. Show features of phone, show what it can do. Show the customers what the iPhone doesn't have (yet). This is why apple sells their crap for more than it's worth, it's perceived as better.

Well I would be happy with both the iPhone 5 and GS3 as they are both good phones(Well I would prefer the GS3...). Its not like they are buying a BlackBerry Curve 8520.

As far as tablets go there is no better tablet for the average consumer than the iPad. Yes I would like it to be cheaper as I think it is ridiculous to pay $619 for a tablet. Lets be honest you would want at the minimum 32GB as there is no expandability. So $700 after taxes is a steep price compared to $300 after taxes for the Nexus 7. The Nexus 7 although a great tablet for its price is not as good as the iPad but I am not willing to spend that much.

Oh and I really HATE Apple's online store as it doesn't show taxes at all. In fact you don't no it doesn't include taxes till after you have ordered it. It says "Sales tax, if applicable, will be added when your order ships and will be included on your sales invoice which can be viewed by visiting online."

How deceiving is that?

Samsung and Apple are both selling their phones are the same price point. You do realize that both are equally guilty of grossly overcharging for their phones?

As far as I know, Samsung notebooks charges a noticeable premium over other competitors such as ASUS and ACER, albeit not to the point of Apple, but they are equally guilty of it.

Companies will always charge the amount people are willing to pay. Basic micro economics. If people don't pay a premium for style and brand name, companies like Hollister, Ralph Lauren, and Lacoste wouldn't be able to sell the same stuff from Old Navy at a price premium of 5x.

TL;DR, yes Apple is overpriced, but so does most things you see at the mall.

I think the reason most people get upset about it is because they are overpriced and they get away with it. No other company that sells PC's charges that much of a premium and gets away with it. The problem people have is that if Steve Jobs would have taken crap and they put it in one piece aluminium shell people would buy it for $1000 just so it would look like they actually owned a mac.

For example other companies like samsung for instance, yeah they charge a premium for their notebooks and guess what they sell less volume because of it. Apple charges the highest premium and also has the highest volume of sales.

Just so you know the iPhone 5 16GB is $699 no contract and from what I can find the Galaxy S3 is only $650, so they are not at the same price. Also if I recall it is also costing Apple less per phone to build as well. Basically it means that they have a much higher mark up on their devices than anyone else in the industry and that is how they make crap loads o f money.

The GS3 is also older than the iPhone 5. The GS3 launched @ $729 without a contract here in Canada.
