If anyone knows anything about the ASUS PCE-AC68 Wifi Adapter, can you please tell me if it would be compatible on all routers, or just some, or would it simply just perform to the best of its ability?

No, it will work with any router that it is compatible with (Usually 802.11a/b/g/n and now ac.. as long as your router has one of the standards that is on the adapter it will work at the highest available standard.

Obviously best is to get 2 the same.. but there is no reason not to get ac capable adapter even if your router isn't, your next one might..

You won't however get the benefits of ac unless both router and adapter are the same.

This. It will work at the highest speed your router supports. The 802.11G/N/AC standards are set by the IEEE, any router or adapter labeled with those standards should work with any other device.

So, The Asus PCE-AC68 will work on most routers, but not quite to the same standards?
