Win10's end of life today - what are your plans?

Well, she's thirteen, so she's not doing anything financial with it. Mostly just playing Roblox or The Sims, and watching Netflix.
So it would be easy enough to migrate her to Linux eventually. There's several that are much like Windows like Linux Mint. Plus it would run fine on her existing computer.

He'd have to get into Linux compatibility for those games though, which could be a headache. Both of those games would at least need the set up of some compatibility layer I think.

And having had a 13 year old gamer girl at one point in the past... "It just works" is an important requirement! ;)

Soooo....I just did the "Enroll now" which gives you an extra year of security updates for free by signing into your Microsoft account. I guess the I have time to make a decision again on my TV box.

I updated the OP with that note

I case anyone isn't aware; If you happen to be a 365 Business Premium subscriber, your sub includes a Windows 11 Pro license. Not worth it if you're just after Windows, but if you already have Business Premium subscription, you're golden on the license.

If your issue is official support, just dig in to using Rufus to bypass Microsoft's requirements for W11. The biggest issue is RAM on old machines. If you're running 16GB+ on a 10 year old i7, performance should be ok. Obviously an ancient i3 is going to struggle, but use your discretion.

Thanks for the recommendations guys!

But my mom really want a laptop this time, so it's a no to mini pc (it was my first idea until she told me).

She wants a 14" laptop, I'm just waiting to anything fitting around 500$.

Should not be that hard, it's for office duties anyway.

Have you looked at refurbs? MemEx carries refurb T14s that are a decent value. And if you get a dud right out of the box (because, refurb) you can exchange it at MemEx for 15 days. They're pretty good about it.

Been looking at some at refurb.io. They would fit the bill, but tends to be 4 to 5 generations behind.

I know they are good, I had a good deal 2 years ago for my T14S gen 2 amd

If I don't find anything at black friday, that's my plan B.

laptopcloseout.ca is also very good with their refurbs. They have an online store, and a retail location in Markham if you happen to be in that area.
