Windows to become agentic OS

Remember when Cortana would give you a heart attack every time you opened a new Windows 10 laptop out of the box because the volume was maxed out and she REALLY wanted to help with the setup? Yeah... This is that on steroids.

"A little sign in here, a touch of Wi-Fi there..."

I dont even game on my pc anymore, and I hate all of these stupid the integrations. I should just move to Linux or something. I consider Apple, but how long before they do the same damn thing.

I think it's possible that MacOS haven't got to this level of "AI" integration is because their AI is non-existent. I was hoping for better SteamOS news today but doesn't seem like the case.

Why yes of course Microsoft, I would like my PC to see and hear everything I do. I would also like everyone around me to hear what I am telling the computer to do.

Who even came up with this. April 1 was many months ago.

Tell that to my damn iphone that's filled with stupid AI. I disable it all. But how much of this stuff is really "AI" rather than than simple binary equations. Is it simple programming, or acutally AI? Is it all marketing? IDK.

While I can see some use for AI, I'm avoiding it. I think it's far too easy for all these companies to change the rules once you get hooked into using it. It also sucks up a lot of power whenever you use it online. I'm also concerned how some people are misusing and abusing it. Hard to tell what's real and what's AI.

Cory Doctorow came up with a term for it: Enshittification. He's got a book that came out this month that I'm almost finished reading: Enshittification: Why Everything Suddenly Got Worse and What to Do About It. No solution for Microsoft though.

So far, I've been able to avoid AI on the Mac mini. They brought out a new OS version (Tahoe); waiting for a couple more updates to it before I upgrade. Still adjusting to the Mac. Using it for daily surfing primarily.

I'm still using win 10 mostly offline for some programs & games; still using Linux Mint occasionally.
