ok so since i have to buy a new motherboard due to my water drip, i found that NCIX has this 300$ combo

now i would have to pay 150$ for a good motherboard, for 1156 but i found someone willing to buy my i5 760 for 170$, now this would actually be cheaper than buying a new 1156 motherboard by like 20$, so should i buy this? or buy a 2600k cpu today and then when ncix gets the new 1155 mobos in get one of them, this would be alot cheaper than buying the 2600K and i dont really take pride in buying the best possible because its just going to be out dated a few months down the road anyways, and i would have to buy a really good mobo and a new video card to go with the 2600k because 460GTx's dont cut it for that kind of cpu

well it's on sale for 334$, there is a rebate after the rebate its like 319$, so i should do this instead of buying the 2600k? i don't mind spending extra money on the 2600K it's just that i would have to wait for the new mobos to come

Typically you can buy things individually from NCIX and price match them cheaper than their combos.

If you're just gaming and doing everyday tasks, the 2500K is a perfectly good processor. If you're doing folding@home, or a lot of rendering, the 2600k with the hyperthreading would be better suited.
I'm not a big fan of MSI motherboards, but the G45 is decently priced.

Also, if you're not going SLI (two nvidia video cards) they have the ASUS P8P67 in stock for $171.35 (not the pro model - pricematch it.)

They're listed, but almost all the "good ones" are backordered. Except the ASUS P8P67 (standard) and the Gigabyte UD5.

Oooh, I see now, on the main 1155 page it says in stock but when you look at a board page it says back ordered.

the 45's from msi are not exactly top notch, maybe look to a gd65? combo is nice though

I would wait and go for a pro or ud3 before touching MSI, but that is JMO.

If someone's willing to buy your i5-760 for $170...get rid of it! That's more than you can sell used i7-920/930 chips these days.

Skip the i5-2600k unless you are into folding. For gaming and even typical editing use, the i5-2500k is more than sufficient (especially overclocked!). Use the saved $$$ towards an upgraded GPU.
