I was hoping the RX 6500 XT would be the best budget GPU for 2022. It really had a chance in gaming performance framerates and power consumption. But AMD might have cut off a bit too much for the RX 6500 XT price vs the RX 5500 XT and RX 580. Not only that the Media Engine for Encoding of H.264 and H.265 content is pretty much gone too.

So if you have a board with pcie gen 4, need a lower end gpu, don’t do any non-gaming gpu workloads, can’t find any older but better gpus, and for some reason don’t want av1 capability, then this is the gpu for you!

For everyone else, keep looking.

It sounds like it was designed as a low-end OEM only card not intended for the consumer market.
