Anybody using this? Looks like my new lenovo laptop is supposed to come with 3 months free.... I've always dismissed it as I'm not all that interested in more subscriptions, but a quick look suggests they've got some relatively new AAA games that I might be able to take advantage of.

I was using it for a while but recently got ride of it. And really that was more of a time thing than quality.

I'd say it is most likely the best subscription game service out there.

I have the Ultimate Pass as we also have an Xbox the kids use. It's well worth it.

I grabbed a bunch of cheap Xbox gold cards when they were on clearance so I have it for the next 3 years haha.

I don't use it much due to my insane steam backlog, but there's a few games it I would have bought otherwise I currently 'have' on it so it's likely paid for itself a few times over tbh.

If you can find XBOX Live Gold cards for cheap, that's still the best way to obtain this. Even at full price, if you were to buy at least 2 games per year that are on Game Pass, it pays for itself. It includes EA Play too which is some of the older EA games, not that EA makes much anymore. They've been adding more of Ubisoft's catalog too.

I think it's worthwhile if you game on PC.

I don't know how good of a sale the cheap cards are, but costco has $10 off of $100.

When I cleared out the Xbox gold cards in August of last year I paid $190 for 36 months of gold so it ended up being a bit over $5 a month but I don't expect that kind of deal anytime soon.

Make sure you understand how the gold pass conversion works before you do that. It must be done in the correct order and can only be done once. You want to convert gold to ultimate. Lots of walkthroughs online. I think if you max out the 3 years (if they still allow for that?) it works out to about $3.50/month. At least, that's about the average when I did it.

Gamepass really is the best value in gaming subscription by a mile. It's a garbage app on the PC, but that an interface frustration that can be bypassed. They have a ton of major titles available though. Plus you get big discounts on purchasing games if you have gamepass. And it includes all the EA stuff on Xbox, which is great because I'll never give EA my money otherwise.

The conversion isn't as lucrative as before, I think it's down to 3:1 for active users, and 3:2 for new ones. Core replaced Gold.

If you want to use Bing though and do the random quizzes and things via Microsoft Rewards, it sounds like you can manage to get it free every month.

I've used it a few times when you could still subscribe for $1 for a month. Worst part of it for me was getting the xbox app to play nice on my PC. Seems like it has so many dependencies and if something wasn't installed in the correct order certain games would refuse to start.

In the end it felt like had I given in to letting Windows automatically install every free app it wanted to in the MS Store and surrendering every ounce of privacy only then would it run properly.
