I've used it a few times when you could still subscribe for $1 for a month. Worst part of it for me was getting the xbox app to play nice on my PC. Seems like it has so many dependencies and if something wasn't installed in the correct order certain games would refuse to start.

In the end it felt like had I given in to letting Windows automatically install every free app it wanted to in the MS Store and surrendering every ounce of privacy only then would it run properly.

I hadn't thought of that. I typically uninstall any MS gaming/xbox crap from my PCs.... I may have to re-install to get the freebee to work.

I bought 3 years using the redflagdeals hack. Installed it once. Never played. I hate how the installion of gamepass and the games itself brutalizes the root directory of your drive.

My sub is almost up. Barely played.

What does it do to the root? Does it just dump everything right at the root without worrying about a folder? (That'd drive me absolutely nutters)

Yes it will put some folders into the root of C drive by default. You can change that to another drive but it still looks like crap and I hate it. lol

I haven't used it once in the last 3 months. Removed my CC auto-renew option so that it just expires once the freebie is complete.

Played about 45 mins of XBL games since I got mine. Will have to make sure I burn through a few games I've been meaning to before it expires or I just forget.

There hasn't been many 'must play' releases for me in the last 3-ish years though. Last one I can think of was Cyberpunk.

Mine just exired. I renewed twice and overall I paid for 5 years and didnt play a thing. I moved to PS4 a long time ago and could never get back into XBL. My son and my daughter did use it but nowhere near it's value, even heavily discounted using workarounds.

Don't forget the folders it creates in various places that are locked down with some super high permissions that you can't delete even with Admin access.
