I picked up 2 Yottamaster 20Gbps enclosure's because in the next year or so I'm planning on building a new rig that will have 20Gbps or higher speeds for the usb port's.

I got these enclosure's because they are only 29.99 usd right from Yottamaster and are more on aliexpress,I ordered them on the Sept 11 and they showed up on the 20th and they were shipped by 4PX which is pretty quick from what I have found in the past using 4PX.

The package is pretty good on these for being made in China, there is a thin plastic tray that holds the enclosure and the thin plastic tray goes inside a heavy plastic box and then the cardboard sleeve goes over the heavy plastic box and is then plastic wrapped.

You get a usb cable that has usb C on each end of the cable and then a usb C to A adaptor that is attached and can't be taken off so it can't be lost, you also get rubber plug's that hold the end of the ssd down and aluminum heat and thermal pad plus a screw driver.

The usb controller is an Asmedia ASM2364 and it came with older firmware and I downloaded new firmware that Yottamaster emailed to me and updated it with no problems.

From my test's using a usb 3.1 gen 2 port off my mobo and a Sabrent Rocket 4.0 I got 721mb's speeds.

The only 2 things I don't like about this enclosure is the way the end of the ssd is held down with a rubber plug and I thought I still had a bunch of small screws laying around but I don't and the one I had was to long and I had no nut for it either,I ordered 2mm and 2.5mm flat head screws and checked the max length I could go without hitting the back panel of the enclosure.

I'm going to use a screw and a thin nut and washer's put up threw the bottom of the pcb and use a nut's and washers to to set the height of the ssd and a nut on the top side of the ssd's pcb to hold it down,I don't trust the rubber plug's that go threw the pcb with the extra weight of the heatsink as well plus with the plugs being rubber if you pull them out they may get ruined, once I get the screws and the length I used I will post here.

The other thing I found is that the heatsink is supposed to just sit on the thermal pad that goes onto the ssd,you could use zip ties or something like that to hold the heatsink down,I have spare thermal pad's of different thickness and I'm going to use 2 small squares of it to go between the heatsink and the back panel.

Also the enclosure didn't come with any thermal material to to on the Asmedia controller which is no big deal,I have a bunch of different thickness thermal material and I'll add a peace when I install the screw to the pcb.

Aside from the way the ssd is held down and the heatsink issue I'm happy with this enclosure and it's bigger and heavier then most as well,I'm sure the rubber plug would work fine but I'd rather have something like a screw that I will know isn't going to break.

looks decent, thanks. I am always looking for fast enclosers for a good price.
I'm sending you a pm with a code that will get you 15% off I just got the email today,I also seen they are now 22.99 not 29.99 and I don't know if that code was already applied for me when I went to their site by a link in my email that they sent me.

when I looked at Aliexpress they were 36 CAD still not bad, just gotta wait a bit before I can spend any money but thanks hopefully it may still work once I can lol

Right now they are 22.99 right off of the yottamaster site, they are cheaper right from them and the shipping method is faster.

I picked up the ASUS M.2 enclosure on Prime days. Was pricier than these ones you've been trying out (50cad) but its also IP68 rated.

I've been very happy with it.

I know the ASUS is a good enclosure and I'm not to worried about water getting in or shock ratings as I'm pretty careful with my stuff.

I was looking at the ASUS Strix model because I only use ASUS Mobo's in my pc's and most that I build but I noticed that the Strix enclosure is only 10Gbps because it use's the Realtek RTL9210 usb controller.

When I seen that the ASUS enclosure had a 10Gbps usb controller I decided to look around like I normally do and see what I could find on aliexpress and amazon,I'm not the kind of person that's a cheapskate or extremely frugal I just hate spending more then I need to on some items like enclosure's when I know it didn't hardly cost anything to make.

I look at it like this YOTTAMASTER charge's 29.99 for the enclosure I reviewed and are on sale for 22.99usd right now and there's more metal by a good bit and a faster usb controller as well so why not future proof for when I get a Mobo with Thunderbolt or usb 3.2 gen 2.

It's just like the copies of Windows I have been buying when I do new gaming pc builds and workstation builds,I had been seeing on ebay sellers from Hong Kong selling Windows 10 Pro retail for 30 to 35 bucks brand new still sealed with free shipping,I was thinking ok maybe it's a scam but nope they are legit and I had gotten about 12 copies of Windows 10 and 5 of 11 from one seller whenever I seen he had copies I just bought them,I figure the more my money I can save the people I'm building for and myself why not,now if I knew the copy was stolen from a local pc shop I wouldn't touch it but because of past dealings with the Big MS and bad left in my mouth from more then one thing to do with software that I knew was legit I look at it if MS doesn't want to look after me why should I care about a guy sliding copies out the backdoor of the factory.

Now this last time from a different seller I ordered Windows 10 Pro 12 days ago and got it and got a copy of Windows 11 Pro and he closed his account down so I got a free copy because sided with me,I think when these copies go up and they are legit retail box's some are making their out the backdoor at where they are being made for MicroSoft, but I don't care because MicroSoft didn't care when I reinstalled Windows 10 and the OEM System Builder Key wouldn't activate that I had been using for a while and MicroSoft said to me your problem is the key is a Windows 7 key I called bullshit on that they didn't help me.

I'm not made about getting Windows 11 Pro I'll just keep and upgrade to Windows 12 with it when it comes out,it was 38 bucks Cad and I got a refund so I can't complain.

I have been using Scdkey for OEM keys for quite a while now, They are all legit and cleared with MS several times, as much as I like ASUS I don't think I would pay top dollar for an NVME encloser not that it's not a good product, all of us know it probably is but why when I can get the same or better for cheaper, but if you need IP^* rating and high shock resistance then I understand but none of those I need. hoping to grab one of these off Aliexpress once I have free cash, the end of the summer is always the lowest available free cash for me and the wife since after what we spend each summer ( 5G-20G) we have to get back on saving every penny.

They seem to have 2x 20Gbps units and this one 40Gbps which is pricey but damn 40g is crazy fast, it does seem like the price for the both20Gbps unit have gone up quite a bit so who knows maybe I wont be getting any of them at these prices, but I dint login so who knows if thats the price once I am.

@gingerbee Those links you posted were to aliexpress and I don't know why but the YOTTAMASTER enclosure's on aliexpress are more for sure but are cheaper when purchased right from the YOTTAMASTER website look at this link.

For orders under 29.99 the shipping is 4.99 usd and if the order is 29.99 and over then it's free shipping.

When it comes to software I like to buy the Retail version of Windows if I can get it on a great deal because I have been known to change my hardware from time to time or want to transfer the key to another pc,I think I only ever seen OEM System Builder keys on cd keys site.

I know Adobe screwed me over as well,I got a copy of Acrobat reader because I used it to download webpage's if I wanted to save the webpage,I went to an online store like cd keys and got a copy of Acrobat reader that was 2 generations old for cheap I think it was 39 bucks and the site was well known and a legit site and after 7 years of enjoying my copy of Acrobat reader I it wouldn't activate.

So I call up Adobe and they said what is your Adobe ID that your software is registered to and I told them that's just it when I purchased I couldn't register because it was 2 generations old according to the guy on the phone when I first purchased the software I was told sorry that's tough crap because it's no longer supported to be able to register it but if you had gotten it sooner then you could have registered it and it would be protected.

I said to the guy on the phone no sorry but it's going to be tough crap for Adobe because you see when I first started getting into pc's I purchased some software a few times that claimed to be the greatest software on earth for doing this or that and it turned out to be crap software and I got sick of not being to get my money back.

I then also told the guy at Adobe my friend used to download pirated software all the time and I got to learn myself where all the best sites are that have clean pirated software and told the guy I used to run nothing but pirated software and then decided to buy legit software but I still visit the pirate sites to see what's new and if there are any programs I have never tried and I will try the pirated version and if I like it then I buy it,I then told the guy at Adobe you know something I was going to chew you a new one and really bitch you out if you weren't going to re-activate my license key but no I'm not instead I'm going to thank you because about 1 year ago I downloaded the latest version of Acrobat Reader to see what it was like and it is a pirated version and works just fine and I never deleted it from my portable hard drive because I always thought I may have problems with my copy someday because of not being able to register it,the guy on the phone didn't find it funny when I said to him man you know you are such an awesome phone rep to convince that what I really should be doing is using the latest pirated version of Acrobat Reader that I never deleted from my portable hard drive.

I also told the guy whatever they are paying I can tell it's not enough and if you let me talk to your boss I will demand they pay you 10 times what they are you because you deserve it and the guy started telling me that if I only knew how much damage using pirated software does to company's I told him and what about all the damage that Adode did to my wallet and didn't give a crap then when I got a copy of your software that was 2 generations old at the time and to take away the ability to register it to protect it from a guy using a key gen and he happens to generate my key and gets my software blacklisted and told the guy when Adobe put's themselves in my shoes maybe then I'll give crap.

To anyone reading this please don't think I'm trying to promote that anyone should run pirated software as everything I run now is legit software other then Acrobat Reader.

Oh, I get it and most of the sites out there like Kinguin/Getkeys and Ebay.ca (not sure if any of them are around anymore) would sell stolen keys, but Scdkey has been proven to have legit keys, I found the site through Techyescity youtuber and he has a bunch of videos where he checks the keys out with Microsoft and others, mostly games, but when it comes to adobe if I had to buy it I wouldn't buy I guess what would be called an OEM key for there software from any site ( cause its adobe ). but honestly, if the software I used for 7 years or more (which is rare for me, if it stopped working) that I paid 40 bucks for I would just buy a new version for cheap, but that's me, the problem I think is so much software companies even adobe even now I think they use the subscription model, so not a fan

Also, I have changed hardware many times using these keys and never had a problem unless I changed the motherboard in those cases I had to call MS which would then activate the lic for me, they are the only Key lic place I will use since they have been proven to not be selling stolen keys ( well at least for MS ) it's the only thing I get and have been for years now and Techyescity has been using them for many years.

I do not run any pirated software not worth the risk, not saying I never did but with 9 PCs in my house really do not want to buy retail keys when I can get legit ones for much cheaper, when I tell MS I am OEM system builder they never blinked an eye about it, but I should point out I tend to only change motherboards if there is a problem with them.

But I totally get it, you do what works for you. 😁👍
