Been using it for a few years. Although I mostly just use it for a database. Before Emby you had to use a MySQL database for XBMC if you wanted a shared library. Emby made it so much easier.

I've honestly installed the Kodi Add-on at least 50x. I could easily do this blind folded.

In Kodi;
1. Go to Settings, File Manager.
2. Add "http://kodi.emby.media"
3. Go to Addons, Install from Zip.
4. Select the Kodi.Emby.Media, install the Beta repository.
5. Go to Addons, Install from Repository. Select Emby Beta.
6. Video Addons, Emby.

lowfat... sometimes you could just "pretend" you don't know about something already! :haha: (Edit: just joking in case that wasn't obvious)

Cool stuff. I am just learning about Kodi and Emby and thinking about setting something up... eventually. I'll check out the video and info. Thanks!

I'll add that Emby seems a whole lot lighter on resources, especially CPU, since it runs fine on my aging QNAP TS-469L. Plex became far too heavy and I couldn't stream anything from it.

It's not quite as polished or developed as Plex though. And they don't have apps across all platforms yet either but it seems to be slowly growing.

If anyone wants to install it on their QNAP, you'll need to add the Qnapclub Store: Qnapclub Store and then you'll find it in the App Center.

Emby has been great, I have the yearly sub which allows me to remotely watch any content on my Emby server. Have a Roku setup for my parents at their house if they want to watch the odd show and even streamed from it when I was in New Zealand.

I'm going to have to look into this. Just signed up for Spotify, but I still want to play my media files through kodi (If I can't use some kind of third party media player, then I'm not interested in spotify at all), and it looks like I need Emby installed first in order to ge the spotify kodi plugin. (Which I assume means it's really an Emby plugin.... ;) ).

Are you guys streaming to tablets/phones, or to a device for playback on TV?
It can do it to pretty much all devices. iOS, Windows, and Android device, etc. Can even stream to a phone, which then can cast it to a Chromecast, etc.

I personally only use it for Kodi though. It is the only way I consume my media.

For me, it works on PCs and all my tablets ( nexus 1 and a Tab E ) without any hazles.

I also give a try yesterday with my brother-in-law. I am in Montreal, he's at Quebec and he was able to stream everything to his home without any lag. :punk:
